Welcome!

Thank you for coming to my blog and website! It means a lot to me. The world of blogging has become a part of my every day life and I love it. You will see everything on my blog...some of my recent photo shoots, some of what's going on in my world and some of what's happening in other peoples lives. It is a true reflection of me well, minus the spelling mistakes.

I started blogging a couple of years ago thinking it would be a great way to give my clients instant gratification. (who doesn't want to see their pictures ASAP after a shoot?) I never expected it to get as personal as it has...life took a turn and right after I started blogging one of my friends got pregnant with Sextuplets and I walked through the pregancy, birth, loss and triumph with their family...my blog became a place to share and meet friends! I've never turned back.

Of course, when people are getting to know me my name is a big topic. It is actually pronounced "No-Amy" (and yes, I've heard every joke running through your head right now!) Here's the story: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and my parents were trying to be nice to me by naming me a Spanish name but then changed their plans and moved back to Canada 16 months later. I've had to explain my name ever since. It's me and I wouldn't change it for anything but, I am sorry for the inconvience...it's worth it though!

I'm passionate about a lot of things but I have to say there's nothing like weddings. Have fun going through the galleries and slideshows on the blog. I hope it inspires you to call me, or pick up your camera and start shooting.

These are a few of my favorite things:

I love my husband Matt. My soulmate and perfect match. I was made for loving him.

Taking the perfect shot and showing it...seeing the person light up melts my heart every time.

I love my little girl Adriah. There's no one in the world like her. She inspires me to be kind.

I love to sing and sing loud! I'm a front row girl so i can belt it out and no one cares!

I love my little boy Leyton. I could into those eyes forever. Just thinking of him puts a smile on my face.

I love Musicals and I'm not ashamed to admit the I own quite a few!

I love the Starbucks drink "London Fog." If you haven't tried it yet...now is the time.

I love my family...there's nothing like family.

I love jeans the fit.

I love friends that are family!

I love spicy food and traveling anymore to try it!

I laughed every time we walked by this sign and no one at the tables! http://t.co/S457ta63

Horses are beautiful creatures!

A couple months ago I shadowed a friend of mine who’s a horse veterinarian at Canterbury Park. I have always loved horses and it was an amazing opportunity to capture them. So I followed her while she did her rounds and took pictures whenever I got inspired…Before the races, getting ready for the races and during the race!

Something different right?

ENJOY!

There's a little bit of paperwork involved.Off to the races!

Off to the races!

something AMAZING has happened to my heart…

WARNING: This post is going to have raw thoughts. I’m feeling so many things and needing to write them out.

…I actually feel like my heart has grown in love.

My heart is full.
I’m thinking about changing the way I do things.
I have so many things I love and some things I hate.
You’ve heard me speak loudly about the things I love often on this blog:
family, Jesus, friends, photography, traveling, church, reading, singing, and my passion for teaching others…

But, I’ve never told you about the things heavy on my heart.
Probably not.
I haven’t even whispered them until lately and now, I’m ready to talk.

What do I hate? Injustice.
More then that…I hate injustice towards the poor and towards children.

I’m ready to do something about it.
I’m ready to love.

Have you ever heard anything about Human Trafficking? I’m new too. At first I didn’t want to hear about it, look it or talk about it…like that would make it go away. But, now I have heard, listened, seen and I am changed…wounded by horrors of one human enslaving another for his own gain.

I’m just starting to learn. So, what do you do when you don’t know about something? I typed in “Human Trafficking” in the Google search bar and found www.humantrafficking.org.

The United States of America is principally a transit and destination country for trafficking in persons. It is estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women and children, are trafficked to the U.S. annually. (read more)

I stumbled upon Love146 through a friend. (Pressing this link will change your life…it’s changed mine)

I keep thinking about the “utopian” society that the American 50′s tried to create…and still there was so much hatred in our country. I feel like one of those sheltered 50′s moms or wives that recently stepped out of the kitchen and decided to go to a Martin Luther King Jr. public speech…I’m shocked, stirred and changed but I keep asking the question what can i do about changing anything? Answer:  I can do something.

1. Give money to a trusted organization.

2. Pray for the end of Human Trafficking.

3. Invest my time into learning and teaching others.

I have many titles but for my work I always list “Photographer” as my job. I feel like need to change my title to Photographer/Abolitionist. I will be working just as hard to end modern day slavery.

I watched “Amazing Grace” last week and was struck by the sickly, small in stature, young statesman named William Wilberforce. God opened his eyes to see slavery and proceeded to open the eyes of everyone around him. He changed the world. Our modern day views stem from his unwavering determination to change laws to protect the poor and end slavery. I feel like we’re let him down by owing it back into our culture. Wilberforce’s “great change” involved his time and money. Those are two things I have control over too.

If to be feeling alive to the sufferings of my fellow creatures is to be a fanatic, I am one of the most incurable fanatics ever permitted to be at large.

–William Wilberforce

There is so much more coming on this topic. I think I might start doing TWO blogs. :) Am I crazy? YES. My heart is captured and I have to do something. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Practical Photography Workshop – Couple Portraits

I’ve captured this couple before and they are so sweet! We had FREEZING wind and chill-y (below zero) temps but they were up for our mob of photographers to capture them! Love HARD CORE Minnesotans. I am one.

Here’s a few of my favorite moments. Can you feel the cold air coming through the screen?
