Tawny and Clayton’s Wedding Pictures!

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

I traveled to Iowa for this wedding…the drive was long but the location was worth it! We had a blast in the little town of Dayton and the surrounding area! I love it when the bride and groom are willing to step out of the box and have fun! This wedding was on camp grounds and I worked at one just like it for years. Being there was like reliving those wonderful memories. It’s amazing how every wedding is so different and so similar at the same time!

Can you believe it’s the end of August?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Is it just me or did the end of the summer come way too quickly? I’m trying to enjoy every minute outside! I remember when I worked full-time in an office I totally reveled in my 15 minutes and lunch hour outside…vowing that if I was a stay-at-home-mom I’d always be outside enjoying the perfect Minnesota summers. We don’t have perfect weather for long but boy, is it great here in the summer! Well, normal life and small business responsibilities don’t let me tan all day…but I’m going to make time for a walk every day!

I used to make a list every summer that helped me enjoyed everything the summer offers…and I’m the kind of person that like to make lists and check things off!

Here’s some of my favorites:

-must lay in the grass at night and stare at the stars!

-must tan/freckle and read magazines…with Eva Cassidy as background music! (Check her out! All of her albums are amazing!)

-must get the family together for laughs!

-must go a picnic outing!

-must write to friends I’ve lost touch with!

-must go on vacation!

-must have a dairy queen dipped cone on a really hot day!

-must go see a late movie about a summer romance.

-must take a romantic summer walk, holding hands, and ending in a sweet good night kiss!

-must have fun with water outside!

-must take a road trip and eat lots of junk food!

What’s on your list? My advice for today…do something on your “summer to do list” before it’s too late!

Sylas Christopher Morrison!

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Thank you to everyone who continues to pray and ask about Sylas Morrison!

Just a little quick update on Sylas. He is growing strong and doing very well! I know many people want to know his progress but there isn’t much to share. I can tell you he is thriving under the care of many wonderful doctors and nurses at Children’s hospital! He continues to amaze his parents…they are so proud of him! They’re hoping he’ll come home sooner then later but we’ll have to wait and see! Brianna and I keep exchanging small miracles happening in our lives and we know how blessed we are!

Thank you for your concern and prayers.

Want to be an even better photographer?

Monday, August 27th, 2007

1. I’ve had lots of people thanking me for writing and giving pointers over the last couple of weeks…thank you and your welcome! I thought of something else that has really added to who I am as a photographer. Since I’ve told you tons of my secrets already I figure, “Why hold back?” I’ve learn so much about angles, lighting, ideas for layering photos from watching the extras of movies with the director and cinematographer commenting all the way through. These are professionals and so, why not learn from them. So much translates into photography! Try it!

2. Another person asked about how to start a website and as I far as I’m concerned you have three choices:

  • Design it yourself!

Pros - It’s FREE!, it’s original, it’s personal!
Cons - There is a limit to your time and knowledge, there’s lots of ways it can go wrong.

  • Hire someone else to design it for you! It’s probably going to run you $1000+ but, at least you can rest assured that no one else will have your exact site! The site I have right now I had designed and I love it but sometimes I wish I could make changes quickly and update new pictures more often!

Pros - It’s original, you are involved in the process and design, it’s built around your needs.

Cons - It’s time consuming, hard to know what you need and communicate it well, get expire quickly.

  • Use a template! There are big websites that have marketed specifically to Photographers. The two main ones I know…Big Folio and BluDomain! They both great and I’ve looked into using them…but I can’t think about that until I’m out of my 2007 wedding season.

Pros - It’s simple, offers Flash and HTML in the same site, make changes any time you want, you can change templates easily and usually at a reduced rate!

Cons - Everyone has the similar sites!

Also…I’ve been asked, “What do you use to edit?” I’m really simple. I use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom and some actions I purchased online!

Again, I hope this helps!

The Sun is Out!

Friday, August 24th, 2007

When I woke up today and saw the sun for the first time in what feels like weeks…I was so happy I felt like I was on vacation! So, Adriah picked out a pretty pink dress and we walked to the park. I breathed deeply and relished every moment! I love the sun!

As I was walking, I started thinking about all the incredible places I’ve been! I traveled tons before I got married and it’s still one of our favorite things to do together!

Here’s a question for ya…”What was your favorite vacation? And what made it incredible?”

I know mine without too much thought:

1. (inside the US) - This past summer we went to South Carolina to visit family and we did a ton of fun “outdoorsy” stuff, got great pictures and more than anything else…it was the first vacation I felt like share with Adriah instead of just having her along! It was different, she had fun and came away with memories of her own! I LOVED THAT! Check out past personal blogs for pictures.

2. (inside North America) - This one’s easy! A few years ago we were given an incredible gift at a private resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was gorgeous…beyond gorgeous! It’s the place stars go to get away from normal folk like us! When we were there…we felt like royalty and loved faking it! We stayed at the Esperanza and yeah…the pictures on the website say it all!

3. (inside Central America) - 2 weeks in Costa Rica! Our honeymoon…Matt planned the whole thing and it was a surprise! We rented a car and saw both oceans, rain-forests, amazing animals, cities, little towns and we even did canopy tours. We had a blast!

4. (inside Europe) - Tour of France, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia! Another vacation planned to perfection by my husband! 2 weeks traveling the countryside, seeing new things together but also getting to see Europe through his eyes. Matt lived there for a year and he got to take me to all his old favorite hangouts! We bonded!

OKAY! I’m ready! Let’s hear all the places you’ve been and want me (or my family) to travel to!
