Playing the name game???
Okay…I’ve had a couple of questions and I wanted to answer them as you continue to think about the perfect name for us!
Someone asked about my maiden name…YIKES! It was Albojer pronounced (elbow-her) not something I want to pass on to the next generation. Although I love my jewish heritage, I don’t need to prove it by passing on a name no one can pronounce! But, thank you for the suggestion…I love the sentiment!
There’s tons of names I love but, Matt doesn’t. Isn’t that the worst. For example: Marcus (Matt, knew a bully in his elementary school) or Justice (one of our very close friends used it) or Lincoln (also used by a close friend) or Sophia (used by someone in our church and I’m a big advocate for a unique name) or any name that ends in “ia” cause it’s to close to Adriah’s name!
I should also mention that I’m drawn to royal, regal, strong sounding names.
Maybe these hints will help us narrow it down! Thanks for playing!

my son is Isaac Lee I think it is a perfect name. Isaac means laughter, not sure what Lee means, it was after my aunt.

I really like the name Navaeh (pronounced Nah-Vay-ah) for a girl. It’s Heaven spelled backwards.
November 27th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
When I was pregnant with my son, I looked hard for a name that no one else would have. We had the same problem with liking names that the other didn’t like. My husband wanted to name our baby Christopher Alexander Sabastian, and I refused. Tooooooo long! He liked the name Blaze, which was okay with me, but I didn’t want to call our baby “Blaze”. So I searched and searched until I came up with the name Dragan, pronounced like Reagan with a D in front. I wanted to spell his name Dreagan Blayze, but his father wanted it to be Draigon Blaze, so that is what it is. He is 13 now, and he has had his share of people calling him Dragon, but he just laughs it off. His nickname is Drey, and both names fit him well.
DRAGAN
Meaning: Dear
Origin: Slavic
BLAZE
Meaning: Flame
Origin: English
When we had our daughter I wanted to name her Tera Cheyenne, but my husband exed that off the list fast, as he is half Comanche Indian and did not want his daughter named Cheyenne (I thought it was dumb). I ended up naming her Jaiden Brooke. We had to have the “I” in there to match her big brother’s “I” and Blaze and Brooke just seemed to be good together… fire and water…. and it matches their personalities well!
Now I like more normal names..lol.. like Addison or Meredith… Cooper or Jace. Weird how 10 years will change your taste in names! Good luck!

A fun website to try is http://www.nymbler.com it lets you put in your favorite names & then produces names that it thinks you might like

Hi Noemi,
I also like unique names, I have twin daughters and one is named “Brenna” which means “princess” and the other is named “McKenna”. Brenna’s middle name is Annamarie and McKenna’s is Isabelle which means ” God is my oath.
The other name I have for you is a girl name of “Elisha” its pronounce (ee-leash-a) which means God is my salvation, and not alot of people with this name.
A boy name would be “Nathan” which means “He Gave”
just some names that I like.
November 27th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
We have two somewhat unusual names in our fam. The first is Cameo. It means sculptured jewel. The other is Helene which means light or bright. Not sure that either sound regal, or fit with your last names, but they fit our family members, are less common and aren’t completely weird! Good Luck!
November 27th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
For a girl, Abby Rose would be cute. It’s not really regal sounding, but it’s endearing.
November 27th, 2007 at 3:04 pm
I am also a fan of strong, unique names. We have Deacon Christopher, Roman James and Lincoln Andrew. We don’t hear of a ton of Deacon and Romans, but Lincolns popularity is climbing it seems…
I like Jada or Giana (has a cool meaning) for a girl. And I love Tropas and Jace for boys. Of course I am not telling any names that I am planning to use
November 27th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
Anna Lia (Anna Leah or Annalee) would be pretty? Very Sweedish. Alyiah (Alleah). Kyia Lots of options for a girls name. Keegan is another neat boys name.
November 27th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
Hey Noemi, if Ray and I ever had another girl (though I think we are done), we liked the name Isabella Joy. I believe I read that Isabella is a derivitive of Elizabeth. So I believe the meaning was something like “concecrated to the Lord with joy”. (I’m also big on meanings!). I thought it would be fun to use Belle, Ellie, or Ella for a nickname….anyway. Boy names….now that IS another story. It took me months to decide on Nate’s name. The funny thing Nathaniel Seth was the name I had picked for Sofi if she was a boy. I just kept coming back to it over and over, and finally decided that must be the one. I am still very happy with it. It means the Lord has give, chosen and appointed. Very strong for a boy! Anyway, I happy for you guys. Congrats on the new little one on the way.

I have two little girls named McKenna Ryann (Ryan is my brother) and Aviana Randie (Randy is my father).
I came up with two boys names for you that I really like:
First is Brogan Shawn. Brogan means Sturdy & Strong and Shawn means God is gracious.
Second is Breck Soloman. Breck means Freckled…which made me think of you! and Solomon means Peace. I just realized that Breck probably won’t sound that great with your last name. But Brogan does.
My brother and his wife just had twins and they named them:
Trace Alexander Chad &
Rafielle Lauren.

OK, I have a long list of names I like and I was going to put them together (1st name and middle name) but, it’s taking way too long to decide on what should go together. This “name game” is so much harder because you like to consider the meaning of the name. There are a lot of names out there that I like, but once I looked up the meanings, I didn’t think they were good enough for this list. So, maybe you will like something I came up with… (they are in no certain order and some I like best for middle names)
BOYS:
Ryker- Becoming rich
Elijah (Alijah)- The Lord is my God
Cruz- The cross of Christ
Royal- Of the King
Cole- Victory in the people
Ian- God is gracious
Reid (Reed)- Red headed (i thought this was funny, because hopefully, he will (or she) will be)
Brogan- Sturdy and strong
Brendon- Prince
Brody- Brother (because he would be!)
Asher- Blessed, happy
Adler- Eagle
Aubrey (boy or girl)- Noble leader
Ethan- Firm and Strong
Baron- Noble
Benedict- Blessed
Grant- Great
Rex- King
GIRLS:
Camille- Perfect (I like this best for middle name)
Kyla (Kylah)- Lovely (Irish) and Victorious (Hebrew)
Harmony (I like this for a middle name)
Beth- God is my Oath (I like this for a middle name)
Alia (Aleah)- Noble
Malia (Maliah)- Calm and Peaceful
Amelia- Hardworking
Ann- Gracious and merciful ( I like this for a middle name)
Grace- ( I like this for a middle name)
Faith- Belief and trust in God (I like this for a middle name)
Bella- Beautiful
Carah (Kara etc…)- A friend, love, the beloved one
Rain- Blessings from above ( I like this for a middle name)
All of my all time favorite girl names did not have great meaningful meanings behind them! So, there are more boy names on my list. Hope this helps! I enjoyed researching the names!
November 27th, 2007 at 8:03 pm
Also, I LOVE the name the reader said above “Isabella Joy” or you could just use “Isabel”…since it is your middle name!
November 27th, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Also, I LOVE the name Teri mentioned above: “Isabella Joy”, or you could just go with “Isabel”, since that is your middle name.
November 27th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
How about Arabella? I think Arabella and Adriah sound so cute together! Arabella means “prayerful”.
November 27th, 2007 at 11:32 pm

I still like Frederic or Cedric Hedrick. It’s got a nice ring to it.
November 28th, 2007 at 7:16 am
Just thought of another girl name:
Nadia- means Hope… and it has the “ia”
November 28th, 2007 at 8:21 am
A unique boy’s name that I love is Declan…. it means “man of prayer” which I think is awesome. And it could easily be placed with a middle name that adds to that meaning…… for example
“Man of prayer” and “strength”
Declan Gabriel Hedrick
Declan Ezekiel Hedrick
Declan Azai Hedrick
“Man of prayer” and “honor”
Declan Timothy Hedrick
“Man of prayer” and “grace”
Declan Ray Hedrick
David means beloved or friend or in the Bible David was called a man after God’s own heart. The name Declan David is cool to me because it can mean “Man of prayer after God’s own heart”….
Am I correct in remembering that you and your husband have a faith? All of these names I’m happening to choose go with that, so you may or may not like them depending on where you stand with spirituality. I know some people don’t like the names to be *overly* spiritual…. so whatever suits you!
Another unique boy’s name is Griffin which means “faith”…. Griffin Hedrick.
That’s all I’ve got right now….. I LOVE thinking of names, so this is fun for me. I’ll have to think of some girl ideas now. Congrats on your pregnancy!
November 28th, 2007 at 10:41 am
I love combining names in order to make unique middle names as well as symbolizing that the child is a combination of the love of both parents. My son’s middle name is Leremy which is the combination of our middle names, Lynn and Jeremy. We are thinking that if our 2nd is a boy, we will give him the middle name Mickene which would be a combination of both Grandpa’s middle names, Michael and Eugene.
November 28th, 2007 at 11:12 am
I also love the name Isabella. It has been the name of many queens! If Jeremy and I had had a girl instead of Dylan we would have named her Caroline Joy. Jeremy’s aunt’s name was Joy and of course I love the meaning. Caroline is a strong english name (goes well with Greenhouse) and it is also a nod to our southern heritage because of Carolina. But it would be pronounced CarolINE not CarolYN. Amy’s middle name is Susannah which I also think is sweet. will think of some more, but I must go back to work now. This type of thing could distract me for hours!

Hi-
Congratulations!
Our daughter’s name is Brenna (meaning-little raven/origin-Irish). Unique and Irish, as my husband is Irish. Her middle name is my maiden name, which I always wanted if I ever had a girl.
It was our third child. Our first 2 are boys and assuming we were having another boy we had a boy named picked out and then went and had our ultra sound.
Keep the blogs coming-they are great!
November 28th, 2007 at 1:38 pm
Beth from Iowa… I LOVE that idea!! I’ve known others who also do that and I’ve always thought it was great!! For some reason when I was first researching these names for Noemi I was thinking her husband’s name was Kevin (don’t know why I was thinking that, I guess it was from another blog I read) and I was going to suggest Nevin, using her “N”. I love combining the names and especially for middle names like you said.
I like the two names someone suggested above too: Arabella and Griffin!!
This is so much fun Noemi… thanks for letting us play along!
November 28th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
How about Zara Isabella Hedrick. Zara Phillips is a cousin of Princes William and Harry.
November 29th, 2007 at 12:07 am
Don’t know the meanings-just names that I like.
Avery
Addyson
Darby
Brayden
Tyson
Ellery
I just like the whole last name as a first name thing.
November 29th, 2007 at 11:51 am
Cedrick is money in the bank! Nice one, Vicki!
Davena, Daphne are quality choices.
But top of the list:
Elijah, Zeke, or Noah if it’s a boy and Phoebe or Evelyn if it is a girl.
November 29th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
For boys:
Uriah-
(Uriah the Hittite in the Bible) means God is my light. We named our son this. I have only known two Uriah’s in my life.
Courage-
means, courage!
Townsend–not sure what it means
For Girls:
Jocelyn- means cheerful
November 30th, 2007 at 8:54 am

November 30th, 2007 at 9:59 am

November 30th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
I think Vicki is on to something, you should use both -
Frederic Cedric Hedrick! I think that’s going to top them all!
But a another good one would be Breck Ried - Freckled Redhead! I mean that is pretty perfect too!
Cute! I actually was just really hoping the other day that one of my children will have my freckles, I love them! My mom always told me she wanted frekles and never got them but then I did! (neither of my sisters had them like me). Probablly her positive attitude made me like mine so much!
I guess I’m supposed to be giving you sugesstions though, not just commenting on other’s comments!
It’s hard, we’re in our own ‘name game’ too - so I can’t think much beyond our own choices… I’ll just tell you our three contendors -
Levi Joseph (Joseph is Jason’s dad’s middle name and my fav bible character)
Mercedes Sarah Grace (after my sister Sarah of course, but all together this name means - Merciful Princess of Grace - what better name for a girl?)
Luciana Linda (Linda after Jason’s mom, and Luci is light and I think of anna (but we pronounce it luci-AHNA) the worshiper in the NT, so it makes me think of a worshiper of light, kinda my own interpretation)
You guys did such a great job with your first name, I’m excited to hear your next one!!!
December 1st, 2007 at 12:34 pm
I have been checking your site here and there for updates on the Morrisons, and now you ask for names for your new baby. I love names, and I already know my husband doesn’t like many of my favorites, so I will share them with you, and hopefully your husband will like them!

Carson - “Christian”
Christopher - “Christ-bearer”
Joaquin - “Raised by Yahweh”
Jordan - “To flow down”
Johan - “God is gracious”
Titus - “Giant”
Asher - “Blessed, happy”
Tobias - “God is good”
Michael - “Who is like God”
Breckin - “Freckled”
Justin - “Just, fair”
Nicholas John (my husband’s name
Girls:
Mikayla - “Who is like God”

Michelle - “Who is like God”
Tatum/Taytum - “Cheerful”
Rain - “Abundant blessings from above”
Raina - “Queen”
Charlize - Feminine form of Charles, “freedom”
Annika - “Gracious, merciful”
