I don’t know how other wedding photographers deal with this time of year but, I have a ton of mixed emotions.
Every week I meet with 2009 Brides to review pictures, hand over proof books, discuss albums, pick images for canvases and wrap up everything we began a year ago! This is such a beautiful time for me because completion is a beautiful thing but, it’s sad to say good-bye to so many amazing people!
Every week I’m also talking and meeting with 2010 Brides to set up consultations, talk packages, dream about photography and see if we’re a good fit to work together for the next year! This is such a beautiful time for me too! I love the beginning of new relationships and seeing couples at the start of their planning…it’s so fun to join in on the process!
Every week I’m overwhelmed with what is left to edit, arranging meetings with new and old clients, taking care of my family, trying to maintain a home…and all the while frantically trying to get everyone still wanting fall portraits on the schedule before it’s too cold to shoot outside!
Then, every day, I stop for a minute and slow down…this is my favorite time of year because I love the colors. There’s nothing like the beauty of color especially when it’s flooded with light! I am sooooo blessed to live in a place where the seasons are so distinct – each having beauty unto themselves. I love Minneapolis for that very reason!
My 2009 season is winding down. I need a vacation when it’s all over – we’re planning one for November!
