I’m thinking…

…you know when winter gets just a little long and you’re really wanting it to be Spring? That’s how a feel today. I want to pack up (all the chunky winter stuff) and move on (hello, summer clothes!) I love the sun, being outside, going for walks, sitting on the deck, playing on the grass, dreaming about my garden (check out this cool site my sister-in-law sent me…it’s for people like me who don’t know anything about gardening but want to try and succeed at it!), figuring out my landscaping, wearing sunglasses, going to the pool, and of course, taking pictures of all of it!

It’s suppose to be nice by the end of the week! Things are looking up!

What’s your favorite summer “anything”?

There is definitely something about this time of year that’s tough! I think it has to do with two things. 1) The calendar says spring, so it’s frustrating when the actual weather isn’t in sync with the calendar. 2) It seems like it’s spring everywhere else in the world, except Minnesota!!! And I get a little jealous and impatient b/c I want to enjoy spring weather now!

Hopefully, the weathermen are right and it will be nice this weekend!

Ohhhhh, I loved reading this! It made me so excited for beautiful, hot, sunny weather – my favorite thing about summer is the lake I grew up on at my parent’s house. I love, love, love spending weekends up there as often as we can in the summer….my parents have a ski boat and I love to waterski. They also have a pontoon which is perfect for all of my sisters and brothers and families…we can ride around on the lake for hours and never get tired of it. My parents always have a huge 4th of July party. It has been going on for 25 years and everyone loves to attend as an annual tradition. We grill out, play games all day, play on the water and then get our comfy jeans and sweatshirts on, hop in the boats to go and watch the fireworks that are shot off of an island on the lake. It is an amazing week spent with family & friends…and I was on bedrest last year and couldn’t go so you better believe we are going to enjoy every second up there! I can’t wait!

I love the sounds that summer brings – singing birds, kids at play, the ice cream truck music AND especially the leaves rustling as the wind blows.

Being outdoors from dawn to dusk, digging in my garden (muddy in pigtails and overalls, beaming from ear to ear), while the rest of the family runs and plays outside, alternating between going in and out of the garage to fetch and return bikes, basketballs, scooters, baseballs and bats, skateboards, helmets, and much more. Going out to my hammock swing in the evening, swaying back and forth in the breeze, under the trees, listening to the crickets, all alone in the dark.

p.s. I really do think it is that much sweeter because I have to wait so incredibly long for it. Course a few weeks earlier wouldn’t hurt anybody, right?
