Welcome!

Thank you for coming to my blog and website! It means a lot to me. The world of blogging has become a part of my every day life and I love it. You will see everything on my blog...some of my recent photo shoots, some of what's going on in my world and some of what's happening in other peoples lives. It is a true reflection of me well, minus the spelling mistakes.

I started blogging a couple of years ago thinking it would be a great way to give my clients instant gratification. (who doesn't want to see their pictures ASAP after a shoot?) I never expected it to get as personal as it has...life took a turn and right after I started blogging one of my friends got pregnant with Sextuplets and I walked through the pregancy, birth, loss and triumph with their family...my blog became a place to share and meet friends! I've never turned back.

Of course, when people are getting to know me my name is a big topic. It is actually pronounced "No-Amy" (and yes, I've heard every joke running through your head right now!) Here's the story: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and my parents were trying to be nice to me by naming me a Spanish name but then changed their plans and moved back to Canada 16 months later. I've had to explain my name ever since. It's me and I wouldn't change it for anything but, I am sorry for the inconvience...it's worth it though!

I'm passionate about a lot of things but I have to say there's nothing like weddings. Have fun going through the galleries and slideshows on the blog. I hope it inspires you to call me, or pick up your camera and start shooting.

These are a few of my favorite things:

I love my husband Matt. My soulmate and perfect match. I was made for loving him.

Taking the perfect shot and showing it...seeing the person light up melts my heart every time.

I love my little girl Adriah. There's no one in the world like her. She inspires me to be kind.

I love to sing and sing loud! I'm a front row girl so i can belt it out and no one cares!

I love my little boy Leyton. I could into those eyes forever. Just thinking of him puts a smile on my face.

I love Musicals and I'm not ashamed to admit the I own quite a few!

I love the Starbucks drink "London Fog." If you haven't tried it yet...now is the time.

I love my family...there's nothing like family.

I love jeans the fit.

I love friends that are family!

I love spicy food and traveling anymore to try it!

Mom FOCUSED Photography Workshop – CONTEST!

Alright, so, it’s been way too long since I did a contest on this blog and I had a great idea last night…why not ask my blog readers to nominate and tell me about a Mom they know who has a passion for photography…Then pick one of those moms to come to the workshop for free! Times are tight but, I figure, people still need to learn about photography! I’m so excited about training moms…why not share my excitement with you?

So here’s how it’s going to work:

1. You (my faithful blog readers) get to sit down and think about who you would like to nominate!

2. Ask them if they’re available for the workshop dates and make sure they have a DSLR camera. Here’s the dates and times:

Friday Sept 18 – 7pm-9:30pm
Friday Oct 9th – 7pm-9:30pm
Saturday Oct 17th – 9:30am-12pm

3. Go to my Contact page on my website and fill out the form for the person – I’ll need their info in order to contact them if they win!

4. Fill out the bottom section of the inquiry form with your reasons of “Why your friend should be the one chosen to come for free to the Mom FOCUSED Photography Workshop”

5. You must get your nomination to me before July 31st at midnight!

The winner will be announced the following week! I’m going to need some time to pour over all the nominations…so that I may chose wisely.

Not only would I love to see this because she has a beautiful daughter that needs to be captured on a digital screen but also because in the Millennial Kingdom when the Lord returns, I hope that Kerry Bowman will be able to capture the beauty and magnificence of the New Jerusalem and display it for the Lord! No joke! I hope she wins!

July 29, 2009 - 10:09 pm Molly C. Shields - Molly has a strong interest in photography, and most especially kid's photography with her two children as her favorite subjects. It is my opinion that Molly shows great promise as an amateur photographer as she seems to be able to capture personalities at just the right moment, and seems to have an eye for lighting and backgrounds. She is eager to learn more, and would be an excellent candidate for your consideration. Thank you. Laura O.

July 31, 2009 - 12:26 pm Sara Petracek - My sister Molly is a wonderful mother and a great photographer! While her children are beautiful to begin with, Molly shares her own pictures with me that bring their charm to another level. Her passion for the art has created a desire to learn much more about the "sport" and an opportunity to enhance her talent. At family gatherings, I may give her a hard time as she constantly snaps pictures while we sit back to relax and enjoy the moment. However, I definitely appreciate her dedication as she is capturing our memories to be enjoyed for years to come. Molly has been creating her own personal style in photography for years, yet is very excited to develop her talent further with the help of an experienced veteran. I believe Molly Shields would be a great candidate for the workshop. - Sara P

July 31, 2009 - 12:28 pm Derrick Shields - I would like to nominate Molly Shields - my wife, and loving mother of our two young children John (Almost 3) and Noelle (14 months). I bought her a Nikon D60 last Christmas and she has really taken a very strong interest in photography, taking pictures of the kids any time she gets a chance. Molly has taken hundreds, perhaps thousands, of really beautiful pictures - our iPhoto library probably needs more space soon! I can tell you that Molly reads your blog on (almost) a daily basis to get insight and tips, however to take her hobby and skill set to the next level, I believe she would really benefit from an in-person photography lesson with a professional such as yourself. To summarize why I believe Molly would be the best candidate for your contest, she has a strong passion for all types of photography, but probably most specifically for kids; she certainly has the heart; and I believe Molly has a natural knack for this, and with some polishing and honing of her self-taught skills by a well-trained professional she can take this hobby to the next level and create memories that will last forever.

July 31, 2009 - 5:01 pm Kerry Bowman - She is my adviser and has been an extreme blessing to me over this past year. She is a great mom and I love seeing her with Abby, it's just too cute and she is just a wonderful mother to Abby. Money is always a tight issue and I know that it would be a great blessing to Kerry, she has blessed me and my cell this entire year by opening up her house to us, giving us coffee, feeding us random delicious treats, and most importantly, encouraging us in our relationship with God. Over all she has called us to a higher standard that will definitely carry on into every area of our lives, including motherhood. If you would, give her this reward, she deserves it, she's just absolutely wonderful! Thanks for considering her! Leslie
