Noemi Hedrick

Welcome!

Thank you for coming to my blog and website! It means a lot to me. The world of blogging has become a part of my every day life and I love it. You will see everything on my blog...some of my recent photo shoots, some of what's going on in my world and some of what's happening in other peoples lives. It is a true reflection of me well, minus the spelling mistakes.

I started blogging a couple of years ago thinking it would be a great way to give my clients instant gratification. (who doesn't want to see their pictures ASAP after a shoot?) I never expected it to get as personal as it has...life took a turn and right after I started blogging one of my friends got pregnant with Sextuplets and I walked through the pregancy, birth, loss and triumph with their family...my blog became a place to share and meet friends! I've never turned back.

Of course, when people are getting to know me my name is a big topic. It is actually pronounced "No-Amy" (and yes, I've heard every joke running through your head right now!) Here's the story: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and my parents were trying to be nice to me by naming me a Spanish name but then changed their plans and moved back to Canada 16 months later. I've had to explain my name ever since. It's me and I wouldn't change it for anything but, I am sorry for the inconvience...it's worth it though!

I'm passionate about a lot of things but I have to say there's nothing like weddings. Have fun going through the galleries and slideshows on the blog. I hope it inspires you to call me, or pick up your camera and start shooting.

These are a few of my favorite things:

I love my husband Matt. My soulmate and perfect match. I was made for loving him.

Taking the perfect shot and showing it...seeing the person light up melts my heart every time.

I love my little girl Adriah. There's no one in the world like her. She inspires me to be kind.

I love to sing and sing loud! I'm a front row girl so i can belt it out and no one cares!

I love my little boy Leyton. I could into those eyes forever. Just thinking of him puts a smile on my face.

I love Musicals and I'm not ashamed to admit the I own quite a few!

I love the Starbucks drink "London Fog." If you haven't tried it yet...now is the time.

I love my family...there's nothing like family.

I love jeans the fit.

I love friends that are family!

I love spicy food and traveling anymore to try it!

Names for my Minneapolis Girl!

Okay. So being on vacation has given me tons of time to think about my little girls name! Well that, and the fact that I feel her moving all the time! It’s the constant reminders that she’s growing and I will get to hold her very soon! (sorry for all the exclaimation points but, I’m really excited about this topic!)

Anyways, when I was pregnant with Leyton I asked for names and you gave a ton of great ones so, I thought I’d open it up again!

Here’s what I’ve learned about myself…

1. I like GREEK origin names – they sound regal to me!

2. I like unique names but not too unique that she would have to explain her name every time she meets someone knew (I’m speaking from first hand experience on that one – No-Amy is not the easiest to say!)

3. I already have Adriah and Leyton so, I don’t want anything that sounds too similar to there’s…but, it has to match!

4. The meaning of the name has to be meanful.

5. It has to be liked by Matt!

I know this is a tall order but I’m hoping you’ll come up with some good ones! Have fun searching.

November 15, 2009 - 11:50 am Lori - I ran into your blog via my daughter-in-law's blog. I just can't resist sharing my favorite names, which are Ruby and Lilly (or Lillian). I like Lillian or Lilly with the names of your other children and also with your last name. By the way, I live in Montevideo, Uraguay's sister city, which is Montevideo, MN. Best of luck with your baby!

November 15, 2009 - 5:31 pm Shannon - I'll share two of my favorites that Ryan doesn't adore like I do ... Portia (latin) meaning "offering" and Chloe (greek) meaning "blooming". Portia would take a little more confidence, but I think it's beautiful! Chloe might be a little too common for your taste, but it's greek and has a great meaning! love you and miss you! SC is lucky these days :)

November 15, 2009 - 8:16 pm Kim Jones - How I love naming babies! A few of my favorites...Isla, Nina, Cecile, Layne Good luck picking!

November 16, 2009 - 12:07 am Julie B. - We're in the thick of looking at baby names too..just 1 month to go...though we don't know what we're having. I'm not sure if I know any Greek names...maybe Lydia. I'm just staring to write some down so I'll have to work on this and check back with you later. It's fun to see everyone's ideas.

November 16, 2009 - 9:00 am Cecilia - Oops ... sorry I’m a bit late! Here are a few greek origin names: Sophia (wisdom), Zoe or Zoey (life), Ophelia (helper), Phoebe (radiant), Pandora (all gifted, talented), Kitty (pure) Karissa (love, grace), Elissa (consecrated to God) Dora (a gift), Charmaine (delightful), Alyssa (princess), Dorothea (gift of God). My favourite out of those, is Ophelia. I think it's so feminine and pretty.

November 16, 2009 - 9:51 am KS Dallas - I know how hard it is picking names. Since you really like Greek names, I am giving you a link that is Greek girl names: http://www.babynamescountry.com/origins/greek_girl_baby_names1.html I hope you can find a name you both love before baby girl arrives! Krista

November 16, 2009 - 1:37 pm Cecilia - Here are some slightly less common names with nice meanings, though not all of Greek origin. Anika (gracious and beautiful). Shoshanna (a rose) Eliana (God has answered) Abigail (a fathers joy) Anastasia (resurrection) Melinda (sweet) Felicity (happiness) Miranda (wonderful) Silvana or Sylvana (Queen of the forest) Then there are the names that speak for themselves like Grace, Harmony, Prudence, Constance, Melody, Patience, Joy etc. I like Joy and Grace out of those. Grace is quite common though, but very pretty :) How lovely that you already know you are having a girl. When I had my babies in the late seventies through to the late eighties, I had to wait until the birth.

November 16, 2009 - 1:42 pm Danica - Hi Noemi, I haven't commented in a while, but I can speak from experience for names. Please be sure you can pronounce the name by the spelling. My name is spelled Danica, but pronounced Daneetza - in 32 years I have never met someone who pronounced it right the first time. My daughter's name is Josephine, not only was it Jeff's mother's middle name, but I also think it is a strong name that will grow with her. We call her Josie. My niece (Joe & Katie Rueb's baby) is named Adelaide, also a very beautiful and strong name, they call her Addie. I've been following your blog since you did our wedding 2.5 years ago and I loved the letter you posted from your fellow reader about ordering your life - wife, mother, daughter, sister, etc... Your perspective hit home for me as a new mom (Josie is 7 months) and it's easy to get caught up in her and forget each other, but we were a couple alone before we were a family. And we'll be a couple alone again in the future and if we lose sight of each other what do we have to look forward to? Thanks for your insight, as always. Danica Rueb

November 16, 2009 - 2:29 pm Amber - Here are my suggestions. I really like some of these names, but my husband would never go for them, so I'll offer them to you! Some of these are Greek, some are not, but I tried to go with your recommendation of "regal" sounding names anyway! I did not choose names that start with an A or L since you already have those! Greta - means 'pearl' Charlotte - means 'free' Gabrielle/a - means 'God is my strength' Hannah - means 'grace' Elizabeth - means 'God is my oath' Isabelle/a - means same as Elizabeth Stella - means 'star' Bianca Briony/Bryony (BRY-en-ee) Britta - means 'exalted' Carys - means 'love' Calista - means 'beautiful' Carissa - means 'grace' Cora - means 'maiden' Elaina/Alaina - means 'light' Evangeline - means 'messenger of good news' Olivia Katia - means 'pure' Katrina - means 'pure' Helena - means 'light' Isla (EYE-la) Kyra - means 'lady' Odessa - means 'long journey' Paris Sophia - means 'wisdom' Zoe - means 'life'

November 17, 2009 - 9:36 pm Beth - Since I only have been blessed to research boy names, I thought I would take you up on your offer and enjoy a little Girl name searching. Focusing solely on Greek, here is what I found... Claretta (bright/shining), Dahlia (flower), Eliana (light), Isadora (Gift of the Moon), & Meagan (strong---but I think it sounds soft and gentle so maybe she could be a good combination of both. Good luck with your search!

December 1, 2009 - 7:25 am Joy - Hi :-) a comment from Germany. My friend has two girls they have really cool names: Noéliah Eden ( peace, solace - place of pleasure)and her 10 days ago born babygirl is called: Philia Shalom. (- loving peace) Bye, Joy

January 14, 2010 - 9:51 pm Kristi - Maisie meaning - pearl origin - Scottish
