Welcome!

Thank you for coming to my blog and website! It means a lot to me. The world of blogging has become a part of my every day life and I love it. You will see everything on my blog...some of my recent photo shoots, some of what's going on in my world and some of what's happening in other peoples lives. It is a true reflection of me well, minus the spelling mistakes.

I started blogging a couple of years ago thinking it would be a great way to give my clients instant gratification. (who doesn't want to see their pictures ASAP after a shoot?) I never expected it to get as personal as it has...life took a turn and right after I started blogging one of my friends got pregnant with Sextuplets and I walked through the pregancy, birth, loss and triumph with their family...my blog became a place to share and meet friends! I've never turned back.

Of course, when people are getting to know me my name is a big topic. It is actually pronounced "No-Amy" (and yes, I've heard every joke running through your head right now!) Here's the story: I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay and my parents were trying to be nice to me by naming me a Spanish name but then changed their plans and moved back to Canada 16 months later. I've had to explain my name ever since. It's me and I wouldn't change it for anything but, I am sorry for the inconvience...it's worth it though!

I'm passionate about a lot of things but I have to say there's nothing like weddings. Have fun going through the galleries and slideshows on the blog. I hope it inspires you to call me, or pick up your camera and start shooting.

These are a few of my favorite things:

I love my husband Matt. My soulmate and perfect match. I was made for loving him.

Taking the perfect shot and showing it...seeing the person light up melts my heart every time.

I love my little girl Adriah. There's no one in the world like her. She inspires me to be kind.

I love to sing and sing loud! I'm a front row girl so i can belt it out and no one cares!

I love my little boy Leyton. I could into those eyes forever. Just thinking of him puts a smile on my face.

I love Musicals and I'm not ashamed to admit the I own quite a few!

I love the Starbucks drink "London Fog." If you haven't tried it yet...now is the time.

I love my family...there's nothing like family.

I love jeans the fit.

I love friends that are family!

I love spicy food and traveling anymore to try it!

There are a few spots left for the Summer Mini Sessions and the location is so awesome (horses, barn, forest,... http://t.co/e7bVaS0S

Preparing for school…

I printed out the Kindergarten list of “must haves” and I was shocked to find out it’s a full page! I know that’s something I’ll probably get used to but, I’m not there yet. So, I went with my list to TARGET and stood there with all the other Mom’s picking out everything needed. Good thing supplies are dirt cheap right now. I am a deal lover – why not save money if you can! (Have I ever told you about Pocket Your Dollars? It’s awesome. Every couple of days she sends out an email with deals all over the Twin Cities. I’m saving money all the time. Sign up – it’s free!)

I’m learning that school is expensive. Clothing, supplies, accessories…gulp. I know this is just the beginning I’ve heard what it’s like once they start in sports and activities. I guess we’ll just have to adjust the budget as we go :) Adriah is going to a Charter School so I’m investing (and I mean investing!) in her school uniform. She is going to look so cute! I will take pictures!

Since, I feel a little behind the ball…any wise words for the new school mom. Anything you’ve learned that I should know??? And I mean any-thing. From the first day to the last day. Us Moms need to stick together.

July 16, 2010 - 12:08 pm Sarah - Try not to be shocked at the amount of knowledge they teach that your daughter already knows. We have found that with public school. My kindergartener and first grader learned VERY few things last year that they didn't already know. Maybe a charter school will be different?...hopefully

July 20, 2010 - 8:16 am KS Dallas - My daughter is almost 15 so I've had a few of those lists. The one thing that I found is they are never accurate. You either get a ton of it back at the end of the year or a note mid-year saying they need more stuff. Also, don't stress if you can't find everything on the list. You can go crazy trying to match everything perfectly. Also, we have had some schools that take up everyone's stuff the first day and then dole it out through out the year BUT your child doesn't necessarily get the items you bought. If your school does this, buy the off brand stuff and the plain folders. I honestly just wouldn't turn in the scissors, colored pencils, crayons, etc. when the school did that. I would tell the teacher that my daughter will have them in backpack if/when she needed them. I don't mind helping out a kid that maybe doesn't have everything they need, but at the same time I wanted my daughter to have the stuff I bought for her. I will tell you that once the kids start school, the time flies faster than ever before. Take lots of pictures! :o)

July 23, 2010 - 9:26 pm Carol - All the teachers are prepared for us moms the first day of school. They let us dawdle and hang around longer this day than most. Adriah will want you leave right away. Don't. I'm fine, Mom, she'll say. I'm a big girl now. Still, stay as long as you can, savoring pre-K moments for as long as you can. A cliché to say, perhaps, but they grow up fast.
