My baby started kindergarten this week.

I’ve been so busy i haven’t really slowed down to think about Adriah starting school. My little girl…She was so ready. She barely looked up to say goodbye. I’m so proud of her. There is something really beautiful about watching her at this stage. I think she knows that this is the beginning of something great. She is going where Leyton and Clara can’t and that makes it more special. She’s alone in this and she’s happy making new friends along the way.

But, there’s a part of me that’s torn…I want her for myself. I still want to have a say, pour into her and help her know the truth about who she is and what life is really about. I want to be a part of this growing/changing process. I know in the years to come I will have less and less influence and this is the right order of things…but knowing that mean I want to make the most out of every moment.

Last night when we were praying before she went to bed she said, “God I need to tell you something…tomorrow is – what’s that girls name who sits across from me? Ohh, Brianna! – tomorrow is Brianna’s birthday and I really want to have fun at school!”

Adorable.

I want to be there and see how she shines. She’s changing in front of me but, yet I still see the 1,2,3,4 year old when I look into those brown eyes. You know?

I think the whole change has been the hardest on Leyton. He cries every time we drop Adriah off and asks to be done when we’re in line to pick her up (an hour every time!) He’s been really whiny and i think it’s his 2 year old way of saying, “I miss my sister.” Break my heart. I’m cuddling (and wrestling) a little more these days to make up for it!

Here’s the last of the Family shoot from last week! A gorgeous family with two adorable kids. There’s something very special about capturing a family at this stage…maybe that I know the value because I’m in the same stage. Kids are full of life and never wanting to be photographed but, ohh the pictures are so worth the effort.

I don’t often get to capture 3 generations in a family photo-shoot. It’s fun but, when the mosquitoes are out and rain may fall at any time…it can be a little stressful too! Hopefully the pictures make it worth while. Thank you to the Reedy family for rising to the challenge!

Ohhh I love this family! They have been such an incredible blessing to us (and our kids!) They live right next door and we’re both stay at home Moms who love staying home! We share a mutual love for photography and finally (after living here for almost 2 years) I got to capture their family. Their boys are adorable – look for the shot of little Alex giving his brothers the stink eye.

I don’t usually travel for weddings…have 3 kids under the age of 5 means I want to be home but, this wedding was special to my heart. I chose to shoot it and I’m so glad. Heidi and Mike were adorable! Made for each other. I loved the old car we used for the pictures. Old cars are beautiful and so are the people in the wedding party!

I’ve known Kendra for a few years…first through a mutual photographer friend, then at my workshop, and more recently she has assisted me at a wedding! When we’re together we laugh a ton and my goal in this shoot was to capture her amazing personality. She exudes joy! Hopefully you feel that through these images. She has a beautiful serious side too. She’s being shooting as an assistant for years and now she’s getting serious about turning her passion for photography into a side business. Hopefully there’s a profile pic in here somewhere. My favorite is that one where she’s on the picnic table and laughing uncontrollably. It makes me smile.

I mainly shot Haley – MISS TEEN MINNESOTA (a stunning redhead with brown eyes! And yes, I’m a little biased at that fabulous combo!)

I’ve known Kelli for a long time and she has grown into a beautiful young woman. She’s off to college in a couple of weeks and I’m soooo excited for her next stage of life!

Senior Portraits – Maddie Schmitz, Bloomington, MN

I had so much fun during this photo-shoot! i love shooting Senior Portraits because the girls I capture are up for anything and happy to be in front of the camera. It was 100 degrees outside and thick with humidity and Maddie didn’t seem to care…a dream client!

Not to mention the fact that she is stunningly gorgeous. I loved her playful side but, man this girl can do serious like it’s nobody’s business.

I love my job – Senior Portraits is a fun break from Weddings! But, I have 7 more weddings coming this fall and I can’t wait for each one!
