I love the backdrop of Minnespolis, MN! AND there are some families I will never tire of capturing…this is one of them. I feel like they are my friends! It’s an amazing privilege to capture a family as they grow and change (wanna look back? and back a little further?)

This is where the photographer takes things too far...who lines a whole family up to do push-up's? Especially when the momma is pregnant? sadly, me.

I’ve known this couple…for a really long time…over 10 years? And I love them. Actually I loved them both separately and then I kinda set them up. then I shot their wedding (with film) over 8 years ago. Yup. I did.

Now look at their beautiful family.

How times flies.

Please don’t let it be another 8 years before I get to capture your family again!

Mini Sessions – London, England (family photography)

I met this couple when they were at Bethany College of Missions and I was the bookstore manager…that seems like a lifetime ago. Who knew I’d be their family photographer years later? Not me. I remember them being sweet together and well suited. Now 11 years later they have 2 incredible kids, are missionaries in England planning to someday move to their ministry to Italy. They are an incredible family! It was such a delight to stay with them, get to know them and capture them during 1 of the 2 hours it was actually sunny!

A family I know and love and MISS! They moved away over a year ago and finally came back to visit as a family…and I was so blessed to capture them again! (Even though I shot their family session outside and nearly froze their kids!)

When are the summer Mini Sessions?

- Saturday, June 23rd, 2012

Where will the Mini Sessions be captured this summer?

- I’m trying something BRAND NEW and very dear to my heart! I have a friend who owes 4 horses on a beautiful 12 acre property that backs up to the Minnesota river. Your Mini Session could include anything from: horseback riding, fun in the barn, walks through the forest, or playing in the sand and water!

What times are available?

- Sessions will begin at 9 AM and will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis (space is limited)

How do Mini Sessions work?

- Sessions will start on the hour and the half hour and are 20 minutes max in length.

- Available to groups up to 4 people max (kids, families, couples, headshots) If your family has more then 4 people…you may require two Mini Session spots to make sure we have time. Contact me for more details.

- Assorted posed and candid shots (Feel free to bring a few props of your own)

Mini Sessions are $250.00 plus tax

- 20 minute session

- 20 digital files and print release

- Online ordering gallery (PICTAGE.com)

Focused Photography Workshops, Minneapolis, MN

I have several inquiries about Focused Photography Workshops for 2012 and I’m so pleased! I love teaching photography workshops and I hope to continue for years and years.

I’m working hard to put together a schedule and description of each workshop to help you better plan (and get excited) for what’s to come. We sold out of the last couple of workshops that I did in 2011 so if you’re planning on coming please register sooner then later. I have people ask questions about light all the time in my Photography Workshops so, I’m going to talk about it on my next two posts! I want to encourage you as a photographer that you can shoot anywhere! In fact, I think that’s the difference between a beginner photographer and someone who knows what they are doing behind a camera. So first, I’m going to show you where we did the shoot. A perfectly normal garage. You can see I chose a space at the front where the light is diffused and soft with dark shadows in the background. I used the pile of wood and the sheet of metal that had rusted for my backgrounds. I used a reflector to bounce light for some of the shots but, most were done with natural/available light! So, you can do this!

Flash Photography vs. Natural Light

If you are a regular to my blog then you know I’m not a huge fan of flash photography and I love natural light. Playing with natural light is one of my favorite parts of photography…mastering it is my biggest challenge!

I went to a Off camera flash photography workshop while in Vegas a couple weeks ago and I learned a ton from one of the greatest in the Photography Lighting world…neil van niekerk! (Sad to say I had no idea who he was and that was my loss!) He was incredibly personable and surprising made flash photography really fun! His website is amazing and packed with tons of helpful hints…please check it out!

so I’m going to show you my shots. Some taken with Flash and other taken with natural light…I’m curious to know which is your favor. No right or wrong just different!

Wedding and Portrait Photography – Part 3

After this, there’s only one more in the Vegas series of wedding and portrait photography. It was an incredible trip to WPPI and I’m looking forward to repeating it in the years to come! I love learning and improving the craft of photography! There is so much more to learn.

It’s my birthday!

Thought you’d like to see where I came from…everyone has their humble beginnings. I love where I’ve come from. I’m Uruguayan by birth, Turkish – English/Irish by blood, spanish and english were my parents first languages, second of four born in five years and brought up in a family that taught me to love Jesus and love people because Jesus loves them. Now I have 3 beautiful children and I’m teaching them the same. Whew. What a privilege…to be a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend, a mom and a servant.

I’m 36 today. I don’t think I have tons of gray hairs to prove it but I wouldn’t mind if I did. I don’t mind getting older. I like my skin and I’m constantly learning about who I am and who I was created to be.

Sorry that the quality of these pictures isn’t great but it’s all I have of my childhood so they are perfect to me.
