Phoenix, Arizona. (Papago Park)

I love to travel. Sometimes I have the privilege of traveling for photography...that brings my two loves together and I'm one happy girl. A couple of weeks ago a photographer friend (ErinJohnsonPhotography) and I traveled to Phoenix, Arizona for an action packed weekend. We scheduled 3 photo sessions and many other epic adventures. Having the opportunity to capture a new landscape and feel the sun on my face at the same time, was pretty awesome. On my birthday weekend no less.

One of my favorite locations was Papago Park. (seen below) I'm already planning my next trip back to Arizona. :)

Christie and Adam's Engagement Photos - Centennial Lakes, Edina

I have been a wedding photographer for ages...going on 15 years now. I love it as much now...no, I think I love it more. I love that I've gotten to know so many amazing people and they refer me to more amazing people and so on. I captured Christie's sister wedding and now I get to have a little reunion with the whole family and be there for Christie's big day! I can't even tell you how honored I am to be chosen twice! They are an adorable couple...the kind I'd like to hang out with. :) So we did. This is us hanging out for their engagement photos. We had so much fun together. ENJOY!

Suzelle and Jonathan's Engagement Photography - Minneapolis, MN (St. Anthony Main)

There are times I just show up for a shoot and laugh the whole time! This is one of those times. This couple is amazing...I kinda want to hang out with them. It was a wee bit chilly on the St. Anthony Main, but we persevered. And it was so worth it! The Minneapolis skyline is so beautiful from the other side of the river.

I can't wait to see these two again at their wedding! Until then, enjoy their engagement photography!

Dagny and Tim's Engagement Photography (St. Paul, Minnesota)

Downtown St. Paul is one of my fav. places to shoot photo sessions. It's inspiring and I love doing photographing with a background that's inspiring. Plus, I was with the sweetest couple...that makes all things better! We were able to capture warm sunlight as the sun set on a gorgeous summer night. (Seriously, I love being a photographer) Enjoy!

Rachael and Chris - Engagement Photography, Prior Lake, MN

I love talking weddings. Planning the engagement photography makes the wedding feel a little closer and real...I love sharing that with my couples. We got really excited for this shoot and then plans changed and then the weather happened. It poured...but we rallied and had a blast once the clouds cleared! If engagement photography is practice for the BIG DAY then we should be good!!

A Cowboy and a Canadian girl (Engagement Photography)

I love horses. Racing horses are incredible...but, they don't really like standing around posing for pictures. (probably because they'd rather be racing!) I loved capturing this couple's engagement pictures last week and getting to use a horse in some of the pictures was an added icing on the cake. Two worlds I love...Cowboys and Canada. So I tried to capture that heart in these photos. Enjoy.

Kyle & Taylor - Engagement photography (Minneapolis, MN)

I love shooting in Minneapolis! After almost 13 years of living and working here...it's my stomping ground and it feels like home. I can't wait to show you this sweet couple. I loved working with them and I'm so exciting to be their wedding photographer! They are the perfect example of people who trust their photographer and I'm the perfect example of someone who takes things one step too far...wait for it at the end of the post.

Ever heard a photographer say, "It would be a really cool shot if we could..." Yup. That's me. And in my defense, let me say that I expected a soft drizzle of snow when we shook the tree but instead we got an avalanche...Thankfully we're all Minnesotans here and they handled it like champs! Ooops.

But, it does make for great pictures.

Engagement Photography - Minneapolis, MN Photographer

You never know how and why someone picks up the phone to call you about capturing their stage of life. A friend of mine Nikki Charlton is an incredible wedding photographer in Toronto, Canada...we were friends long before either of us were photographers! She was in my wedding! A couple of weeks ago I received a call from Janice because Nikki is taking her wedding pictures. I couldn't pass on the opportunity of sharing clients with one of my favorite people right? PRACTICAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP - AUGUST 18th, 2012 Who should attend? *Specifically for photographers new to their camera and photography but, interested in knowing how their camera works and learning how to improve their images. Also available to aspiring and/or established photographers who want to freshen up their portfolios and learn new technical and creative photography techniques.

WHAT TO BRING? Bring your digital SLR camera and a smile:) Preferred lens is a 70-200mm to keep everyone at the same shooting distance so we don't get in each other's way. You can bring other lenses as long as you are considerate and avoid standing in front of other attendees during the shoot. All gear should be stored on your person to keep you mobile. Bring paper and pen for on-the-go note-taking.

Minneapolis Engagement Photography (Walker Art Museum)

Winter engagement photography is so much fun...for me, I'm the one wearing Northface, mittens and boots. I'm so mean. I make the engaged couple take off their coats and run around in the snow. It was really cold and they didn't complain for a second. AND THEY AREN'T EVEN MINNESOTAN! I had a blast capturing this cute couple. Snow ball fight was my idea...

Mini Sessions - The Evans Family Portraits (Minneapolis, MN)

Most couples get pictures for their engagement and then for their wedding and then they wait...until kids come. I'm not sure why because as our love grows I think we should capture it! This couple understands that. For their 5 year anniversary they decided to document their love - just for fun! I love that! I hope to capture them at 10 years, 15 years, 20 years and so on...they are beautiful! As the Mini Sessions happened I needed to keep being inspired! I love finding new places to shoot at an old location.

For the last 8 years I've had the privilege of being a Wedding Photographer in the Twin Cities. Angie and Neal - Engagement Pictures - Arboretum in Chaska, MN

The Arboretum has to be one of my favorite places to shoot engagement sessions...I could go there a million times and always come away with different shots. This couple was so much fun to work with and I'm really excited to be shooting their wedding in the fall! Capturing love is what I do and what I love doing!
