We had an amazing night at the wedding workshop last weekend. We had so much fun capturing two couples. Our first couple was a vintage bride and groom and the weather, light, and location were perfect! I love teaching photography and inspiring new photographers to grown in their gifting and passion...teaching wedding workshops let's me focus on something I love to capture!
FOCUSED Wedding Photography Workshop
Wedding Photography Workshop
Every year I try and set time aside to host a workshop (or two) because I love teaching about photography and I love motivating people to develop their skill/craft in an inspiring way.
This year has been super busy and with a packed fall schedule I'm only offering one workshop. I'll be hosting a Wedding Photography FOCUSED Workshop on October 24th, 2015.
FOCUSED Photography Workshops
FOCUSED Photography Workshops are a highlight of my year. It's where I get to pick the models, the light, and the location! I get to teach about photography and inspire photographers to have confidence in this incredible art! Yup, I love my job. Vintage FOCUSED Photography Workshops are an art unto themselves. I love story telling with a time-period in mind.
See for yourself.
Benson's Family Portraits
the Benson's Family Portraits is one of my favorite's to capture. They are up for anything! And hearing the phrase, "smile for candy!" still makes me laugh! LOL Sometimes the best way to get great family portraits is to bribe your kids...it's not my recommended form of parenting but, it works for a photo shoot once a year. See for yourself.
Vintage FOCUSED Photography Workshop - Part 2
If you haven't yet...please check out Vintage FOCUSED Photography Workshop - Part 1 Serious overload on cuteness. Because The Vintage Workshop had a wedding flare. I had a model "bride and groom" but I also had them bring their kids so we could pose for family photography too. And then, I love having a couple to represent the "engaged" portion and help the photographers build different aspects of their portfolios. I really try and give you "more bang for your buck!"
The next Practical FOCUSED Photography Workshop is August 2nd, 2014 and registration is open (Class size is limited to 10)
Vintage FOCUSED Photography Workshop - Part 1
Hosting the Vintage FOCUSED Photography Workshop was so much fun! These pictures make me smile.

I've started to get inquiries for dates for both Mini Sessions and Workshops, so I'm posting it here for you to SAVE THAT DATE!

top tips for beginning photographers - DYI portrait session
Here's my top tips to improve your photography (DYI style). If you're a beginner photographer then you want a safe place to ask your questions or better yet, have someone answer them before you ask them. That is the main reason why I teach beginner workshops. I love providing a safe and fun place to learn! There's only 2 days left to get in on the early bird discount! 1. Shoot during the "magic hour" (the hour after dusk or the hour before dawn) Simply check when the sun is rising and setting and plan your shoot accordingly.
2. Backlight - put your subjects back to the sun, have the light come through their hair, angle them for the sun to touch their shoulder, and no squinting.
3. Use a reflector - Backlight can make your subjects face dark and putting a reflector in front will bounce light and soften their face.
4. Talk to your subjects - lead them, encourage them, show them your poses, mirror poses so it's easy for them to copy, show them great shots to build trust and willingness to keep following your lead.
5. Shoot for free to keep learning and shoot the things/people you love. You want to practice the magic hour? Invite an engaged couple to come out and pose while you play with light. You want to figure out light in the snow? Dress a family in colorful vests, hats and mittens and take them on a winter picnic.
You might have questions about this post and I'd love to answer them. Write your question in the comments and they other can learn from the answers.

Here's the pics from our styled shoot.

Mike Colon Workshop - Wedding Photography
I was so excited to hear the words, "Are you ready for the bride and groom's second outfit?" Ummm yes. I love the second part of this shoot because we moved to where the Red Rock was in the background. I changed a bunch of these photos to Black and White because I loved how it added to the extreme modern look of the bride and groom.
I use the Canon Mark III camera, 70-200 lens and changed it up with the 35mm for a couple of BIG shots.
WPPI Vegas Workshop with Mike Colon
Mike Colon is a photographer that I have followed for years. (and I don't really "follow" photographers) Mike's photography and business values are clean and strive for integrity...that's what I want for my business. Mike Colon Workshop Review: It truly was my pleasure to work along side him and learn from him.
Here's a few images from our Red Rock Wedding Photoshoot...(side note: Oh how I miss the sun!) I shot all of these with the Canon Mark III camera and the 70-200mm lens.
Photography Workshop 2013 - Help me customize it for you!
I just came back from a week in vegas to attend WPPI conference and listened to the best in the Photography Business. I learned so much. Setting aside time away help me figure out who I am, who I want to be and who I don't want to be as a business person and photographer...so you want me to go. :) I got to thinking about how much I love to inspire and teach photographers at all different levels. Workshops allow me to do just that but, I want to make sure I'm offering what you're looking for so this year I'm going to ask you.
If you're interested in taking a FOCUSED Photography Workshop this year here's your chance to tell me exactly what you want. Just copy the questions below into an email, fill in your answers and send them to info@NoemiPhotography.com. Over the next couple of weeks I'll collect them and then post the workshops for the year.

Experienced: meaning you have had your camera for a while, take lots of picture, but still don't understand how or why you get good pictures sometimes and not other times.
Advanced: meaning you understand camera basics, photography basics and your ready to build a business/portfolio or simply develop your craft.
2. What would you like to shoot at the workshop? Pick 1-2. Babies Kids Families Engagement Wedding OR no shooting and just talk business
3. What are you looking for in workshop teaching, shooting and cost? - 3.5 hours $99 (2 hours of teaching, 1.5 hours of shooting, includes snack) - 4.5 hours $199 (3 hours of teaching, 1.5 hours of shooting, includes dinner) - 6 hours $299 (4 hours of teaching, 2 hours of shooting, Portfolio and Business info, includes dinner and snack)
4. What's the most important "thing" to get out of the workshop?
5. When do you have availability to attend? Evening or Saturday May, June, July, August
I don't know any other photographer who asks these questions, but I'm okay with that because I really want to offer the workshop you really want to attend. I'm really looking forward to hearing from you.
