The Krause Family!

Before I left for Canada last week, I did a family shoot at a park in Bloomington. I love young families, parks, care-free kids, laughing and of course...pictures to capture it all! Matt and I have been friends with the Krauses for as long as we've been married. They are incredible people and have beautiful kids. Laura has been wanting a photo shoot for ages and it finally came together! I love being able to use my creativity and bless those I love! I hope this makes you smile!

The Mulligan Family!

I've been doing lots more family photography over the last few weeks and it's been so much fun! This family was great! I admire them for having 3 kids in less then 3 years...wow! They are a beautiful family and that made my job so much easier! Now you can ohhh and ahhh over them too...

Traveling to Canada...with a toddler!

Since the majority of my family lives in the Great White North...we do spend some time up there! Mostly we fly but, once a year we do the 12 hour drive up to my mom's house (just on the Canadian side of Sault St. Marie). It's a LONG ride. Anyone who has a toddler is making a "tragic" face right now...cause you know what it's like to try and contain a two year old, keep them occupied and not give in to the temptation of giving them snacks to keep them quiet. :) I don't usually do that but, desperate times call for desperate measures. Although Adriah is normally a very sweet and obedient child...this week she's decided to test me on everything! And I mean everything. So, we'll see if she gotten it all out of her system. I admit to being one of those people who thought good parenting meant well behave kids. I didn't ever say that out loud but now I know that what I was thinking. Now I know I'm not perfect but, I have read some very good books and thought I could put those things into practice and "my child" wouldn't be the one throwing fits. I was wrong. Very wrong. (Hmmm. I guess that's a bit too vulnerable. Oh well, now it's out there!)

Anyways, all that to say, think of me Sunday afternoon. We'll be gone all week and driving back Friday! My mom's house is on a gorgeous lake...so that means beautiful pictures! I'm excited to see family!

Ken's Birthday...and fun at Bush Lake!

There's nothing like a party at the beach! Have you been to a beach lately? And barbequed hotdogs? And gorged yourself on chips? All the while in your bathing suit splashing in the water with kids? We need it! Get past ourselves...past our maturity and splash in the water. Adriah had tons of fun and so did I! I highly recommend finding the nearest body of water (pool, lake, ocean or even kiddie pool) and letting go!

Remembering Canada Day & Our Anniversary!

 There's a few things you should know about me:

1. I love symbols! I took a symbolism class in highschool and it changed my life forever! I've always loved seeing what's creative and behind the scenes. I think it's because it makes me feel smart!

2. I'm a deep thinker...always pondering life and my relationships! I'm the person who's buying those self-help books!

3. I love Superhero movies...for one reason only...I strangely indentify with the characters. Don't ask!

4. I'm drawn to anything creative. Best example is one my husband often uses to describe our differences. I'm the cook of the family. I open up the fridge and start creating! Often I don't know what I'm making until half way through the process! AND he's the baker. Give him a recipe and he's happy!

5. I chose for our wedding to be on July 1st(Canada Day)of 2000 because: Matt and I are Canadian, I knew we'd never live in Canada again and I wanted to remember our "roots" and three, because I wanted to celebrate our anniversary with Fireworks every year! Plus, I love that the whole country stops to have fun that weekend! For those of you still debating on your wedding date...I highly recommend holiday weekends!

Hot Summer Days with 2 year olds!

It was well over 90 degrees today and I loved every minute! I don't know why I love the sun and being hot so much, but I do! Adriah and I invited friends over and we had a blast on the water slide!

It was so fun to see thegirls go from not wanting to be near the water, to putting in their toes, to getting their hair wet, to sitting on the slide, to sliding into moms arms and then finally getting the courage to do it, "All by myself!" I'm treasuring these moments because I'm realizing how fast they fly by!

Just like Mom!

Adriah just turned two in April and everyday I see her changing before my eyes; new words, lots of emotions, longer hair and lots of saying goodbye to clothes she outgrown!  Here's Adriah all grown up with chef's hat and apron...she's cooking for mom!

Modeling the Latest English Fashion!

This is for my sister Elizabeth who is forever buying cute English outfits for Adriah and I never remember to take pictures when she's wearing them!

Most people say Adriah is the spitting image of her dad or her aunt...but I guess I'm hoping you (probably only my mom!) can see a little of me in these pictures.

If you're wondering how she's sitting so peacefully...it's easy...great parenting! (OR it could be that Raffi was singing on the tv right behind me)

It's hard to believe she's already 2!

Adriah's Tea Party/Birthday Bash

Six kids (under the age of three) and twelve adults...Two to one seemed like great odds for a tea party! Adriah turned two on Monday and all day she was singing "birf-day you you" to herself! She and her friends got all dressed up and had tea on our deck!!!! It was the cutest thing you ever did see! We followed the tea time with bubble blowing, finger painting and yes, opening presents (all the kids tore into each one - it was crazy and totally fun!)...then we finished off the party with hotdogs and chips! (JUNK FOOD hit the spot!) For some of the kids it marked the first time they have ever had tea (don't worry, it was de-caf) and a hotdog (I wish there was something I could write to redeem hotdogs, but I can't!)

Spring at last...pictures at the park!

It's April...the windows are opening, breeze brings in fresh air, smells of summer and sun...these are the days that make people move to Minnesota! 70 degrees and total perfection! And as much as I hate to say it, "It inspires me to clean!" But enough of that and back to being outside with the kids and playing at the park. Here's Adriah playing peekaboo!

Adriah's almost 2 and everything is getting to be so fun! She's her own little person and is "Miss Independant" about everything. We went to the park with our friends Dave (who Adriah calls "Wave"), Vicki (called "Wicki"), and their kids.

Jude...just hanging out! this kid could hang there all day! He's crazy strong and loved chillin'! We may have a future gymnast in our midst! 

I LOVE THIS SHOT! Doesn't it make you want to tickle him like crazy? He's yelling and having a ball!

Big sister (Delaney) loved the monkey bars! It's that love-hate relationship between, "Leave me alone/I want to do it myself" and "Where are you going?/Don't let me fall, Mommy!"

Ashley's Birthday Party

Matt and I decided to take a birthing class at Southdale when I was pregnant with Adriah. It was once a week for 8 weeks and we always sat by the same couple (Jim and Sandy) and shared candy! Our friendship was destined to last! Now our little girls are turning two...

They live out in the country and have a couple of horses so, of course, there's no competing with that kind of party entertainment! Not to mention the "gator"! Driving and playing with her Daddy...Adriah had a blast!

Ashley is beautiful and a little mischievous...in this shot she has just poured a shovel full of dirt into a her friend Cole's hair!

She thought it was the funniest thing AND I got great shots.

There's is so much joy in seeing kids play...I was thinking about keeping her tights clean; she was pouring sand down her onsie! I was trying to stop her from hurting herself; she's wanting to climb high and come down the slide "All by herself!" 

I know these toddler days are short and I try to savor every moment! I'm told they go by too quickly so I give her tons of kisses and tell her every day how much I love her! There's not a lot terrible about this two year old.

Photoshoot w Photographer friends and kids!

There is nothing combining 2 passions; photography and my little girl! I was invited by a couple other mom photographers to shoot our kids (with cameras :) ) I wanted to show you some of the shots we got from Thursday morning...

I love mothers and daughters! It's amazing to share these moments...and even better yet to share them with you!

I'm trying out something new with the slide show...I hope it captures your heart in a different way. I don't know why I'm so emotional about this, but I am...a mother and a daughter. A woman in the check out line at Walmart said this to me yesterday, "There's nothing like the bond between a mother and a daughter. It can't be explained!" I agree, but I would add one more thing...it can be enjoyed!
