I've been smiling a lot lately. I'm loving my life and the incredible people I have the privilege to capture.

I love God's heart for the orphan. He adopts them as his own.
He loves the orphan and the fatherless.
This family aligned their heart with His and opened their home to 2 beautiful kids from the Congo. I'm amazed at their hearts. Want to get caught up on their story?

Today is my anniversary. My husband and I had been in ministry at a local church in the Twin Cities for the last 13 years...actually it was 20 years for him. We have started a new chapter of our lives.
On June 17th, 2013 Matt was sworn in as a Police Officer to the town of Hastings, MN.
So just like that, life changes. I'm excited to see what the next 13 years hold...I know the plans He has for us are good.
Kids are a blessing. More kids = more blessing.
Families are a gift.

Mini Sessions are a fast way to capture your family photography! And it's amazing what I can get in 20 minutes. I love it when clients listen to me...seriously, it's so nice. Balloons are so simple. But simple props work for family photography.
One thing I like to encourage all my clients is when you're picking what to wear for your family photography choose color and patterns and lots of accessories! Vibrant is gorgeous! Here's a perfect example:
I always invite families to bring props to my family photography sessions. There's nothing like capturing each child at their stage of life and props, costumes, toys, clothes, blankets etc. are GREAT symbols of the stages. These are the pictures 20 years from now we'll still be talking about because they will trigger memories from those ages! I want pictures that do that. Here's what I mean:

What times are available? - Sessions will begin at 9 AM and will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis (space is limited)
How do Mini Sessions work? - Sessions will start on the hour and the half hour and are 20 minutes max in length. - Available to groups up to 4 people max (kids, families, couples, headshots) If your family has more then 4 people…you may require two Mini Session spots to make sure we have time. I couldn't resist. Doing custom family photography is so enjoyable. One of my favorite parts is that we have time. Time to laugh, time to change outfits, time to let moments happen without rushing them...time is nice.
Ohhh how I love capturing this family...and getting to do it in Prior Lake makes it even more special to me! They are kinda close to my heart and I'm honored every time we do family portraits! Family portraits should be fun...this family makes it a blast. See for yourself...

Aspiring and/or established photographers who want to freshen up their portfolios and learn new technical and creative photography techniques. *Specifically for photographers interested in understanding the business of weddings and desiring to expand their wedding portfolio. Learn how photojournalism works...how to tell the couples story through pictures!

- Signed model releases on file to ensure you have the rights to use the images you shoot
- Technical & Creative on the spot training
- Learn how to get consistently accurate exposures in changing lighting situations
- Interacting with models, natural posing techniques, capturing images with impact that will stand the test of time

WHAT TO BRING?
Bring your digital SLR camera and a smile:)
Preferred lens is a 70-200mm to keep everyone at the same shooting distance so we don't get in each other's way. You can bring other lenses as long as you are considerate and avoid standing in front of other attendees during the shoot. All gear should be stored on your person to keep you mobile. Bring paper and pen for on-the-go note-taking.

As a wedding and portrait photographer...I spent a lot of time looking for light and delighting it. So I'm looking for the light in my life today. I love sun reflecting on the snow...and when it's not so cold that I want to cry because my eyes are watering anyway.
I love when my son steps out from the van and into the sun cold and says, "It's beautiful out here!" (A phrase he no doubt heard me say in the summer. :)
I love that yesterday morning when I woke up my daughter the sun beat me to it. And I breathed a little deeper.
I love that I can feel the season moving by and the days lengthening and the sun shining a little more everyday.
Winter has beauty and I have seen it. Now I'm ready to see spring's beauty. Winter shouldn't hog so much of the year. Spring needs her time...just saying.

Can I say that this family is one of my favorite's? Ok. How about I REALLY like this family? AND I really like the order they decided to have their kids. Girl, Boy, Girl is so fun! I feel so at home in there house and with their kids.
