Spring at last...pictures at the park!

It's April...the windows are opening, breeze brings in fresh air, smells of summer and sun...these are the days that make people move to Minnesota! 70 degrees and total perfection! And as much as I hate to say it, "It inspires me to clean!" But enough of that and back to being outside with the kids and playing at the park. Here's Adriah playing peekaboo!

Adriah's almost 2 and everything is getting to be so fun! She's her own little person and is "Miss Independant" about everything. We went to the park with our friends Dave (who Adriah calls "Wave"), Vicki (called "Wicki"), and their kids.

Jude...just hanging out! this kid could hang there all day! He's crazy strong and loved chillin'! We may have a future gymnast in our midst!

I LOVE THIS SHOT! Doesn't it make you want to tickle him like crazy? He's yelling and having a ball!

Big sister (Delaney) loved the monkey bars! It's that love-hate relationship between, "Leave me alone/I want to do it myself" and "Where are you going?/Don't let me fall, Mommy!"

Ashley's Birthday Party

Matt and I decided to take a birthing class at Southdale when I was pregnant with Adriah. It was once a week for 8 weeks and we always sat by the same couple (Jim and Sandy) and shared candy! Our friendship was destined to last! Now our little girls are turning two... img_2104-small.jpg

They live out in the country and have a couple of horses so, of course, there's no competing with that kind of party entertainment! Not to mention the "gator"! Driving and playing with her Daddy...Adriah had a blast!

Ashley is beautiful and a little mischievous...in this shot she has just poured a shovel full of dirt into a her friend Cole's hair!

She thought it was the funniest thing AND I got great shots.

There's is so much joy in seeing kids play...I was thinking about keeping her tights clean; she was pouring sand down her onsie! I was trying to stop her from hurting herself; she's wanting to climb high and come down the slide "All by herself!"

I know these toddler days are short and I try to savor every moment! I'm told they go by too quickly so I give her tons of kisses and tell her every day how much I love her! There's not a lot terrible about this two year old.

Voltage Fashion Show

This was a great way to spend a Wednesday evening! It was sold out, 1500 were squished into First Avenue! One of my 2007 brides (Meghan Brace) was featured as a designer...so I HAD to go and support her! img_1365.jpg

My PUG - Topic: Blogging

All shoots are uploaded to Pictage.com and through the online service I meet monthly with a PUG group. Basically 10-20 Pictage photographers get together to sharpen each other and I learn a ton every time I go! Everyone I shoot benefits...tonight we talked about blogging! Here's what I learned:

  1. Blog more often.
  2. Add actions to my pictures.
  3. Link to slide.com for cool filmstrip-like slides.
  4. Figure out how to use showit slides on my blog. :( YIKES!
  5. Write more about what's going in my life and around me! That's what makes my blog unique and worth coming to visit!

Hey, if you're reading this LINK TO ME AND READ ME EVERY DAY! Tell me and I'll link to you! We all benefit and it's a happy world!

Introducing Adriah...my little girl!

I had an up and down day with my little girl! Adriah will be 2 in a couple of weeks and parenting her keeps me on my toes. She's loving life one minute and on the floor whining the next...sheer entertainment. img_0911-small.JPG

Here's a glimpse into my life...outside of photography! These are my passions. There is nothing more irresitable then her small voice asking me to "com-min" follow her with all our bags in tow!

img_0939-small.JPG

I got the equipment I ordered from WPPI in the mail yesterday and this was my first opportunity to use my new Canon lense (50mm - 1.2). IT'S AMAZING! Can't wait to try it on my brides this summer!

Photography is my passion!

I'm still buzzing from the Vegas conference! My husband tells me I haven't stopped talking about photography and related plans since I've come home. I can't help it! I've learned so much about myself and the passion God put inside me for capturing moments and telling peoples stories, I want everyone to know I'm doing what makes me happy! I know what kind of photographer I want to be and want kind of photographer I'm not. That's comforting...I don't want to try and be something I'm not, but at the same time I want to keep learning and growing in my trade.

Things are good. Business is booming.

Pictage - Viewing Your Pictures Online

What is Pictage? My definition: It's all-in-one website that allows you to go online and view, manage, share, and purchase your photos. And then, for photographers it does everything that we used to do: developing, printing, billing, and sending the product.  Check out my portfolio collection of wedding and engagement portraits! I wasn't a believer at first! But here's all the reasons I signed up Pictage.com:

-Professional customer service and troubleshooting.

-Anyone who was at the wedding (or wasn't able to come) has the ability to sign in and view all your pictures at no cost!

-Even though the bride and groom receive a DVD, it releases them from the responsibility of printing individual pictures for everyone in the family. Now everyone can go online and order what ever they want!

-It ensures that everyone is getting professional quality images. AND I want my pictures to be produced by professionals (no offense to Walmart or Sam's Club!)

-PLUS, I'm able to give everyone who pre-registers a $5.oo gift certificate towards their first order.

I got on-board for weddings but now I'm making it available to everyone I shoot for. If your paying to have a professional photographer shoot...it means you care about the pictures...Pictage will give you quality - even if it is more than Walmart!

WPPI - Vegas here we come...

I'm so excited! It's my first time in Vegas and I'm going to the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) conference with my brother (Alexander) and sister-in-law (Tiffany). They have an incredible photography business out of Toronto, Canada. Check out their site.   I'm going with high hopes to see the latest and greatest in photography equipment AND bond with my bro!

I'll tell all when I get back. Got anything you want me to check out or look for? Let me know.

Why photography?

Wow. I'm soooo excited to finally be blogging! I don't know all that I'll be writing about but that's the exciting part. I'm learning and growing as a photographer every day and I have lots to share. I want to use this blog to help my clients by directing them to referrals for every aspect of wedding planning and then offering interactive questions and answers. I want to be able to share alittle more about my heart and passion for this incredible art! Photography was always in my heart but I never pursued it as a career until one of my friends talked me into doing her wedding. I literally told her "no" 3 times before I caved in. After one wedding I knew that I had found what I wanted to do.

Hard to describe...It's being there and capturing precious details, freezing time and handing it over to be cherished forever...it's beautiful.

That was five years ago.

Not only do I love shooting, I love getting to know people and helping them relax and enjoy themselves. Lots of times I've had the guys thank me for engagement sessions cause it always turns out to be lots of kissing :)

What concerns do you have in getting your engagement or wedding pictures done? Be honest. I'll answer any questions you have.

Noemi Isabel Hedrick

stake-eater.jpg Alright, first of all, thought I'd start out grossing you out! Yes, I love steak! Sorry if you can't read because gagging! If you're able to continue, here's the low down...

I'm the second of four; three redheads and then my brother who was blessed with brown! We're very close in age; four kids in five years AND 2 of the four work as photographers...weird.

I've been married almost seven years and have a little girl named Adriah who's almost two. She's adorable and I love watching the world through her eyes. Matt (my husband) is my best friend. We're both Canadian, but love Minneapolis and intend to stay here forever!

I just turned 31 and two days later cut 5 inches off my hair and added lots of highlights and "texture". Basically, I look normal from the front and like a rock-star from behind. I love it! I always want to have alittle risk in my life.

I love almost anything creative: singing (to the One I love), quilting (not old-school, but funky stuff), scrapbooking (I've switched to digital), painting (watercolor - I learned from my father-in-law, Tony Hedrick), make-up (MAC is my fav.) and of course photography. I hope to always have hobbies that push me creatively! I'm a perfectionist so learning new things can put me in a bad mood...not so good. BUT the good news I usually learn quick and love the challenge.

That's a little. More later.
