Ohhh how I love capturing this family...and getting to do it in Prior Lake makes it even more special to me! They are kinda close to my heart and I'm honored every time we do family portraits! Family portraits should be fun...this family makes it a blast. See for yourself...

I love horses. Racing horses are incredible...but, they don't really like standing around posing for pictures. (probably because they'd rather be racing!) I loved capturing this couple's engagement pictures last week and getting to use a horse in some of the pictures was an added icing on the cake. Two worlds I love...Cowboys and Canada. So I tried to capture that heart in these photos. Enjoy.
I was so excited to hear the words, "Are you ready for the bride and groom's second outfit?" Ummm yes. I love the second part of this shoot because we moved to where the Red Rock was in the background. I changed a bunch of these photos to Black and White because I loved how it added to the extreme modern look of the bride and groom.
I use the Canon Mark III camera, 70-200 lens and changed it up with the 35mm for a couple of BIG shots.
Mike Colon is a photographer that I have followed for years. (and I don't really "follow" photographers) Mike's photography and business values are clean and strive for integrity...that's what I want for my business. I love shooting in Minneapolis! After almost 13 years of living and working here...it's my stomping ground and it feels like home. I can't wait to show you this sweet couple. I loved working with them and I'm so exciting to be their wedding photographer! They are the perfect example of people who trust their photographer and I'm the perfect example of someone who takes things one step too far...wait for it at the end of the post.
Ever heard a photographer say, "It would be a really cool shot if we could..." Yup. That's me. And in my defense, let me say that I expected a soft drizzle of snow when we shook the tree but instead we got an avalanche...Thankfully we're all Minnesotans here and they handled it like champs! Ooops.
But, it does make for great pictures.
I love being able to work with so many AMAZING people. And often (more then often) I get to capture love. Simple. Pure. Beautiful love. It's why I do what I do. I'm fascinated by people and their relationships...and then, they trust me to tell their story. Meet Blair & Derek. They are engaged and in love...not that you needed me to tell you that.

Preferred lens is a 70-200mm to keep everyone at the same shooting distance so we don't get in each other's way. You can bring other lenses as long as you are considerate and avoid standing in front of other attendees during the shoot. All gear should be stored on your person to keep you mobile. Bring paper and pen for on-the-go note-taking.

Where will the Mini Sessions be captured this winter?
- I'm renting out a friends studio in Minneapolis, MN. This location is great for a variety of indoor and, for the brave, outdoor photography too!
What times are available?
- Sessions will begin at 9 AM and will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis (space is limited)
How do Mini Sessions work?
- Sessions will start on the hour and the half hour and are 20 minutes max in length.
- Available to groups up to 4 people max (kids, families, couples, headshots) If your family has more then 4 people…you may require two Mini Session spots to make sure we have time. Contact me for more details.
- Assorted posed and candid shots (Feel free to bring a few props of your own)
Mini Sessions are $250.00 plus tax

Can I say that this family is one of my favorite's? Ok. How about I REALLY like this family? AND I really like the order they decided to have their kids. Girl, Boy, Girl is so fun! I feel so at home in there house and with their kids.

There's nothing like capturing sisters in family photography! I have 2 sisters and plenty of pictures of us laughing and posing for the camera...it never gets old.
It's unusual to get to capture someone who's relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera...and even more unusual to find that combo in a guy AND a senior! Thank you for making my job so easy.
I don't shoot a lot of newborn shoots anymore and sometimes I miss them. This precious little one help fill my cup back to full. There's something about holding a newborn that slows your heart rate and makes everything more peaceful. I love her name. Reese means enthusiasm! Can't wait to see who she becomes!

At the end of the Fall Mini Session Day I did a family portrait session...it was cold and wet and yet, we persevered! I'm glad we did.
It wasn't that long ago I wrote a post about my friends Dave and Vicki who were on a quest to adopt from the Congo. I wanted to help raise money for them to adopt from Africa but I'm happy to report that they have raised ALL the money needed to adopt! Tomorrow their "YES!" becomes very real...they are boarding the plane to the Congo and bringing home not one, but two children! Words cannot describe how proud I am to be friends with this family.

We’re a family who are simply following the Lord. It’s been a crazy few years of letting go of our desires and embracing His. We wouldn’t have it any other way. We have three kids. Delaney is our 9 year old and our firstborn. She is all about having a good time. Jude is 7 and is a cool guy. Eliza is our baby at 4 years old. She is the eyes and ears of our home. She keeps us all in line.

Their courage to say yes...it sets them apart and makes the extraordinary.
While they are gone...I'll be praying. When they come home...I'll be praying. When these kids grow up...I'll be praying.
