London Practical Photography Workshop
Mini Sessions - London, England (family photography)
When I was 19 I went to School of Ministry in Toronto, Canada...that was 17 years ago. CRAZY! I made some incredible friendships that still exist today! I'm so thankful for the shaping years. What I learned about the Lord during that time really set the foundation for who I am today. Andy was in the school with me and I persuaded him to drive up and bring the family so they could be my models for the workshop! Brace yourself for the cutest curly hair ever!

I met this couple when they were at Bethany College of Missions and I was the bookstore manager...that seems like a lifetime ago. Who knew I'd be their family photographer years later? Not me. I remember them being sweet together and well suited. Now 11 years later they have 2 incredible kids, are missionaries in England planning to someday move to their ministry to Italy. They are an incredible family! It was such a delight to stay with them, get to know them and capture them during 1 of the 2 hours it was actually sunny! Thank you for everything Julia. Enjoy your pics!

Practical Photography Workshop in London, England
Here I come! As a mom of three I don't get to travel internationally much. If you're ever wanting to try this there's a couple of things that have to be in place:
1. Have a husband who's amazing and loves being with your kids!
2. Have an incredible contact abroad who's willing to do leg work for you and get the word out!
3. It helps to have a sister who lives in the country of choice for incentive to make it happen!
4. Have friends that are willing to help get you to and from the airport and watch your kids when you're husband needs to work!
5. Have a dream, put it out there and watch the Lord figure out the details!
So, today I fly! As soon as I get to airport my vacation begins. I'm bringing way too many books and things to do because, Lord knows, I'm going to watch movies on the plane. But, I will have hours of uninterrupted time and I want to enjoy every minute.
I know it's a long way to go for 5 days but it will be worth every moment of jet-lag because it's England, photography and my sister.
Yes...I will be taking tons of pictures!
And yes, I will be sharing them with you!
Flash Photography vs. Natural Light
If you are a regular to my blog then you know I'm not a huge fan of flash photography and I love natural light. Playing with natural light is one of my favorite parts of photography...mastering it is my biggest challenge! I went to a Off camera flash photography workshop while in Vegas a couple weeks ago and I learned a ton from one of the greatest in the Photography Lighting world...neil van niekerk! (Sad to say I had no idea who he was and that was my loss!) He was incredibly personable and surprising made flash photography really fun! His website is amazing and packed with tons of helpful hints...please check it out!
so I'm going to show you my shots. Some taken with Flash and other taken with natural light...I'm curious to know which is your favor. No right or wrong just different!
Wedding and Portrait Photography - Part 3
After this, there's only one more in the Vegas series of wedding and portrait photography. It was an incredible trip to WPPI and I'm looking forward to repeating it in the years to come! I love learning and improving the craft of photography! There is so much more to learn. Pretty Pictures never get old...I think that's why you keep coming back and reading the blog! Thank you! ENJOY!
It's my birthday!
Thought you'd like to see where I came from...everyone has their humble beginnings. I love where I've come from. I'm Uruguayan by birth, Turkish - English/Irish by blood, spanish and english were my parents first languages, second of four born in five years and brought up in a family that taught me to love Jesus and love people because Jesus loves them. Now I have 3 beautiful children and I'm teaching them the same. Whew. What a privilege...to be a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend, a mom and a servant. I'm 36 today. I don't think I have tons of gray hairs to prove it but I wouldn't mind if I did. I don't mind getting older. I like my skin and I'm constantly learning about who I am and who I was created to be.
Sorry that the quality of these pictures isn't great but it's all I have of my childhood so they are perfect to me.

Vegas here I come!
A good Children's Museum is worth every penny!
Give me a good children's museum and my camera and I'm good for hours! We found this little Children's Museum in a renovated old bank...one of the "dress-up" rooms is in the old vault! Between dress-up, a crazy vent, and my nephews loving taking shots of their own...we had a blast!
Have you been to a great Children's Museum lately? Or any crazy spot that I must check out with my kids? I'd love to hear about it.
Something I've never done before...American Revolution Photography!
While in South Carolina on vacation we took the kids out in over 100 degree weather to visit a near by historical plantation that put on a re-enactment of "The Battle of Huck's Defeat." "The Battle of Huck's Defeat was a significant turning point for the back country during the American Revolution. Early on the morning of July 12, a battle was fought near the home of Col. William Bratton in York County, South Carolina, which was to have far-reaching consequences for the Patriot cause. This engagement is known as the Battle of Williamson's Plantation or, more popularly, simply as "Huck's Defeat." (wanna know more?)
It was amazing! I loved hearing the guns blast, my kids "oooh and ahhh", and capturing it all with my 70-200 - gotta love getting close!
Fishing = Bonding (family portraits)
I love the ocean. That statement in itself says so much. I love that my kids spend their vacations at the ocean AND with family...it doesn't get much better then that. When we were in South Carolina a couple of weeks ago it was over 100degrees and super humid. We were out early in the morning going fishing. Precious memories.
Have you been to the beach...lately?
When we we're on vacation a couple ago we took every opportunity to go to the ocean. I went at 7:30am with my two oldest kids. I loved the light, the water, the sand, the summery feel, and their spirit of adventure. Every shell was pressure and needed to be kept. I remember those days and i love reliving them through my kids.
The Haley Family - Pawley's Island, South Carolina
I can not tell you how much I love this family. They are my family in every sense of the word. I have loved watching these boys grow into the fine young men they are today. I can't wait to see who they will become. While I wait...I'll capture them every chance I get! I don't get to capture "older" kids very often and I'm not sure why! I think families should continue to get pictures taken as a family until their kids are gone...well, until the leave the house anyway. I'm just saying. As long as your kids are growing and changing they should be captured.
To Amy, be encouraged today! You are an incredible mother, wife, and woman of God. I admire and love you. So thankful to be your friend and sister.
Slice of America...captured on camera!
Portraits of Grandparents
I married well. I love saying that. I'm so thankful for Matt, but I love his whole family! They have really become my closest friends...and support system! While in South Carolina we always see a ton of Matt's parents (Tony and Jeanne) and this time I made a point of capturing them. They are not perfect...but they are beautiful to me. I'm proud to be a part of this family. Side note: it was over a 100 degrees when we shot these photos...they are such troopers.
