Sample Photobooks for 2008

Wow...I feel like I've been searching forever to find the perfect proof books and wedding albums for my 2008 brides! I have buying samples left, right and center; I love what I've found! I have such a variety of choices: soft cover, hard cover, small, not so small, included in package and available a la carte! I think every bride (and groom) will be happy! Proof Books:

5 x 5 - Hard cover (These are adorable! Great to display at the office, on an end table or coffee table. And they would make wonderful gifts! It displays 1 picture per side.)

8 x 8 - Soft cover (Easy to hold and great cover designs! Also perfect as a coffee table book. Its larger size allows 4 pictures per side.)

8.5 x 11 - Magazine style (Totally functional and at the same time trendy looking! It will feature 6 pictures per page - cause it only prints on one side.)

If you're like me, you'll want one of each! I'll see what I can do about that. :)

Wedding Albums:

12 x 12 - Hard cover (Absolutely gorgeous! I mean breath taking but, of course, pricey. But for the brides that want the filled out package with all the amazing extras...I have the book for you!)

I'm still looking for more wedding albums options before make my final decision about 2008 packages so if you have suggestions I'd love to hear them...seriously! I just wanted to give you a sneak peak at my newest ideas.

I don't want the packages to be crazy with a million options and thousands of "additions" to the package. I like simple. I like being able to tell people upfront how much it's going to be. That's the kind of photographer I wanted.

Danica and Jeff's Wedding

This was a gorgeous wedding up in Hibbing, MN! One of the many amazing aspects of this wedding was the groomsmen...all brothers...all 6 or 7 of them and their dad is still smiling! I had tons of fun jokin' w all the bros! Enjoy a few "sneak preview" pictures. The rest will be featured on Pictage.com in a couple of weeks. If you are a friend of the bride or groom and haven't pre-registered with Pictage...Don't waste another second!

2007 Wedding Preparation

With the wedding season just around the corner I'm contacting all my brides, planning engagement sessions, creating schedules, exchanging emails, working out the final details...loving every minute! This is what it's all about! The pay off for all of our preparation; finally getting to shoot their weddings.

Today I went with Molly and Andrew to the Lafayette Club, Minnetonka Beach, Minnesota.

I love this shot (above)...they look like they could be somewhere in Europe!

It was exciting to be walking on the grounds with the future bride and groom, picturing the day, talking about the people involved, and standing where everything will happen. It's a gorgeous reception hall! If you're still looking, I'd check it out!

Wedding Mishaps and Ways to Avoid Them!

I am a wedding photographer...that has been established. It means that I have been a part of many weddings and I get to see the behind-the-scenes "drama". I've learned a thing or two. Not enough for a best selling book but, perfect for my blog. Let's get to it...

Mishap #1 = "Where are the flowers? We're ready for the pictures to start." :(

*Always try to arrange for the flowers to be dropped off before the beginning of the pictures so even if they're late (which happens!) we will have them for the majority of pictures.

Mishap #2 - "The schedule revolves around our transportation and we the limo hasn't shown up."

*Always plan extra time for commuting and allow for "things" to pop up. My advice is for the bride and photographer to stay close and make use of the time you're waiting!

Mishap #3 - "The Brides bouquet fell apart an hour into shooting...yikes!"

*Always have the florists number for the day of the wedding and make sure she's reachable! That goes for all types of service. Don't leave your wedding notes at home! Have everything in your phone and in your personal attendants phone. Just incase.

Mishap #4 - "The bride and groom are with the photographer but the wedding party is lost!"

*Always make sure that someone in the wedding party knows where they are going and has the means to connect with the bride(and party) if things get confusing. Personal attendants are wonderful...give them everything they need to help you make the day smooth!

Mishap #5 - "The tux arrived and the sizes are wrong."

*Try to rearrange the jackets between the groomsmen (and ushers) making the mistake less obvious and keep the jackets on for the pictures so the pants don't show as much. In most cases, nobody else will notice unless you draw attention to it...so don't! AND after that, make sure they get their money back.

I hope this is helpful. AND I hope you don't need any of this advice because your day is flawless!
