Christi & Tony's Wedding Photos

This was my first wedding at the St. Paul Cathedral and I'm in love with that church! I guess the waiting list is over a year long...but so worth it! Christi and Tony...thank you for letting me be apart of your day! We laughed so much...I loved it! I may have even won Tony over...to love (or at least like) pictures! That was my secret goal of the day. :)

I hope you love your pictures:

Amy and Anthony's Wedding Pictures

This was my first wedding of the 2008 season and I must say, "It's great to be back in the saddle!" I get to do a job I love and be a blessing to people on the best day of their lives. Amy and Anthony had waited a long time for this day and it was worth the wait. We had a perfect day - one of the few beautiful days we've had this spring! I loved the Saint Paul Hotel and the carriage ride through the city...beautiful! Enjoy!

Weddings

I've been to so many weddings it's hard to keep count. Today I went to a wedding with my husband and my 2 year old daughter...and I wasn't the photographer! It was so weird for me! When we were driving there and I was trying to remember the last time I just attended a wedding and I couldn't. The truth that hit me was how simple weddings are...two people love each other, exchange vows and rings, and they are pronounced husband and wife. WOW! Isn't that an amazing thing? It's a half an hour or an hour service and it changes their lives forever! That really struck me today. You don't really know what you're doing when you're saying "I do" but that's the amazing part. It's after the wedding that we get to figure it out. AND I think we're meant to be figuring it out our whole marriage. (Unless, I'm just really slow and haven't caught up to everyone else.) Weddings are so beautiful! I truly have the greatest job in the world!!! People chose me to share the biggest day of lives...I love it!

I have to tell you the cutest story...I brought Adriah to the edge of our row and when the doors opened to present the bride she said, "WOW! Look Mama, it's a princess!" Isn't that adorable? One of those precious mother/daughter moments I'll never forget.

Anyways, I'm tired and need to get to bed...but, as always, it's fun to share my day with you!

Canvas vs. Print

I'm a big believer in keeping things simple! For this reason I don't offer tons of different options for books and a million different complicated packages. I try and keep everything simple with 3 options at the very most. I love the "brag book" that I offer with a couple of my wedding packages and I love "Sequoia leather bound book" that's custom designed (available a-la-carte) AND my new favorite is the wonderful world of canvas. I've recently updated the consultation/office room in my home and I have different canvas sizes featured! In my opinion, it is the coolest way to captured the most important day of your life! I can't wait to share it with the 2008 brides.

That's one of things I'm really excited about in returning to Las Vegas for WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photography International) in March. I get to walk around the trade show and inspect the best books, printing, canvas and equipment companies...and make decisions...and spend lots of money! I highly recommend it for any starting photographer! The seminars and conversation helped shaped who I am as a photographer and I can't wait to grow again!

I know some other photographers read my blog...any suggestions for books, printing, canvas or anything else? Or if you're just starting do you have any questions about these areas?

Jessica & Jakob's Wedding!

This was my first wedding of the year and it was the perfect way to start! I had so much fun with this couple, their wedding party and their family! I must admit I was skeptical of getting great shots at a winter wedding but the bride rented the Arboritum at the Scultpure gardens (near the Walker Art Center) and the overcast winter day made our conditions perfect for pictures! Everytime I shoot a wedding I'm remind what a priviledge it is to do what I do! I get to bless people with providing their memories in a creative way! I love it! Hope you do too!

Pictures from my first wedding...that I assisted anyway!

I drove with a friend (and fellow twin cities photographer) Alison Geier to Northern Minnesota to shoot a Christmas wedding! I definitely learned a few things and because we stayed over night we got to talk shop the whole time! I discovered how fun it is to show up and just shoot...no responsibility! I wanted to share a couple photos from that wedding. Winter weddings are tricky cause we can't really go outside for too long and the sun goes down so early! We had to be creative and that's why we get paid the "big bucks!"

This first one is one of my fav's just cause "back light" is so delicate and beautiful! img_7218-640x480.jpg

The bride couldn't stop smiling...I love that!

The candlelit service was so gorgeous and peaceful!

After the ceremony we went an antique style home and took really cute shots in the attic.

I don't often stay for the dance just cause I've tried to keep the day short for the expense purposes and this wedding make me realize there are so many pictures and memories left to be taken at the reception! It's worth paying for the extra hour! You can't go back...so why not do it right?

Hillary and Jon's Wedding Pictures

This was my last wedding of 2007 and I have to say ending the season is bitter-sweet. I'll miss sharing those precious moments with everyone involved but I'm ready to edit the rest of the weddings and move onto Christmas family shoots. Hillary and Jon are an amazing couple! Their wedding day was perfect...and I mean perfect! Hillary is a redhead and maybe that's why I felt like she was one of my family. My time shooting the bride and groom in the little town of Austin, MN was so much fun! Let the world know, I love capturing redheads. I know this union is blessed.

Jill and Travis's Wedding Pictures!

I knew I was going to love this wedding! We had blast doing the engagements session and I've been looking forward to the wedding ever since. When planning on October wedding in Minnesota...anything goes as far as weather! But, this day was perfect...80 degrees, sun shining, leaves changing and everyone laughing! That's my kind of wedding.

I know I say this a lot but, I can't help that I have the best job in the world and I have tons of fun doing it..."these pictures make me smile!"

Enjoy!

Meghan and Jeff's Wedding!

The first time I talked to Meghan on the phone I knew I wanted to do her wedding! Sometimes you just know, even before you meet the bride! Then, we had tons of fun shooting their engagement session and I've been looking forward to their wedding since. The Calhoun Beach Club is a gorgeous location! Meghan and Jeff had the wedding and reception there. It was so beautiful! Meghan is a designer for Target and has her own line of clothing. (Check out her designs!)

It poured the whole day, but we were smiling...

Mandi and Jesse's Wedding!

This wedding touched my heart! It's rare I cry while working...but I did for this wedding. I held it together until they played "Feels like Home." This couple has made an incredible journey together and it's just beginning! The pictures you're about to see are just a taste of the day. It's getting increasingly harder to pick just a few but, I tried. Enjoy!

Karrn and James's Wedding!

I loved this couple! The bride and I always joked that we would have been friends. We had a chilly morning but a beautiful afternoon the day of the wedding! This bride was prepared with a very fun white cuddly jacket, not that she needed it...she was so happy she didn't even feel cold! My favorite bit was the 8 Saber dudes...it was so cool! Anyone else planning a military wedding? Call me!

Normally I put about 25 pictures on the blog but, I just couldn't narrow it down! Get comfortable...

Tawny and Clayton's Wedding Pictures!

I traveled to Iowa for this wedding...the drive was long but the location was worth it! We had a blast in the little town of Dayton and the surrounding area! I love it when the bride and groom are willing to step out of the box and have fun! This wedding was on camp grounds and I worked at one just like it for years. Being there was like reliving those wonderful memories. It's amazing how every wedding is so different and so similar at the same time!

Brandi and Jon's Wedding Pictures

Some weddings have small bridal party's and some have big party's...this wedding had a BIG Bridal Party! Just thinking about it makes me smile. I love a challenge! Brandi and Jon's wedding was at Northwestern College, St. Paul MN and it's gorgeous there! (If you're surfing my site and still haven't found a location; I suggest this one!) It poured rain all day...but we still got beautiful pictures!

What I love about weddings!

Some of my favorite moments at weddings is with the wedding party and family. (Of course I love interacting with the Bride and Groom, that's a given!) But, laughing with the family is so fun and precious. It's amazing how little time you can spend with some people and feel totally bonded to them...what better way then joining of the most important days of their lives! Now, having said that, know that every family is different and I make it my personal challenge to figure them out to get the best pictures. I love glowing brides, sheepish grins, teary eyed grooms, best friend hugs and mixing of different worlds!

What else do I love? The constant pressure! It doesn't matter what weather, church, season, or the people...I gots to gets good pix!

I'm already doing consultations for 2008 and even that part I love! Meeting new couples, hearing their stories, wanting to do everything I can to make their day amazing and give them pictures that will last a lifetime! Who gets to do that as a career!??? I'm so lucky!

The number one thing people say to me is "It's obvious you love what you do!" And that's the truth. Keep 'em coming!

Julia & Peter's Wedding Pictures

It was soooo fun to shoot a wedding for a friend! And even more so to get to know the man she's fallen so deeply in love with! We laughed all day long...even when it poured rain! In the end, the weather doesn't matter because the beautiful bride and handsome groom got married and we were all there to witness their vows of love! It was perfect! They were amazing willing to do anything for a great picture...and I got some great ones!

Molly and Andrew's Wedding Pictures

Wow! I took more pictures at this wedding then I have at any other...AND it was a wet, freezing, windy day in August! Who would have thought? The best part was that it didn't matter. There was love, warmth, and joy...enough to go around many times over! This incredible couple learn a choreographed dance for their reception. When I took the pictures I told her she reminded me of "Belle."

Ashley and John's - Wedding Pictures

Bethany Church is feels like home to me! And this couple added to that feeling. Ashley and Jon wanted the perfect day and we got it! The icing on the cake was her class of gymnasts who tumbled down the aisle after the couple was declared husband and wife! I love seeing something different at every wedding. Thank you for the pleasure of being a part of the biggest day of your life...so far!
