Matt & Jackie - Minneapolis Wedding Photography

In Minnesota winter weddings are cold. This may seem obvious, but even when it's freezing outside brides are able to take a deep breathe and push through for the sake of a great shot! I want to thank Jackie for being willing to freeze so I could get outdoor pictures. I think it was worth it and I hope you agree.

Minneapolis Wedding Photography - Morgan and Levi, Dec. 11th 2011

Only in Minnesota are their brides so "hardcore" that they would go outside in freezing cold weather to get great Wedding Pictures! Morgan you were so gracious even though you froze! I hope the pictures make it all worth while...it truly was my pleasure to be a part of your day.

Kristina and Ryan's Wedding Photography, Deephaven, MN

The Minnesota wedding season is coming to an end and I always get a little sad when that happens. But, oooh, the fall leaves for this wedding were perfect. It's almost like they held on until we got our pictures. I like the sound of that. And even though we're heading into a Minnesota winter, I'm happy to have these pictures to look back on. Thank you Kristina and Ryan for choosing me to be your wedding photographer! I loved capturing your day.

Jim and Laura's Wedding Photography - Minneapolis, MN

Weddings, weddings, weddings...oh how i love weddings! Tis the season for fall weddings and I have to say it's my favorite time to shoot! The colors are beautiful and so is this couple! I know I'm giving you a ton of pictures in this post but who doesn't like to look at wedding photography?

The Pop Up Shop with Wildruffle!

I'm so happy to be a part of this event...

It's going to be amazing! Have you heard about it yet? The idea behind a Pop Up Shop is exactly what you're thinking...a collection of businesses who may or may not have a shop of their own come together bringing their best for you (and me) to shop! Yes, I'll be a vendor too! But, I'm mostly excited to do tons of my Christmas shopping with local businesses with very little effort on my part...they are all going to be in one place. I love that!

My friend Cate from Wildruffle.com is pouring her heart into this event and I know it's going to be amazing. I personally want to invite you. I hope you can come!

Here's the details so PLEASE click over to your calendar and mark the date!

Practical Photography - Evening FOCUSED Workshop

Thank you to my lovely models and the women who came out for the Workshop! We had a great time together. Here's what the attendees are saying:

Do you have any other suggestions for future Workshops? My only suggestion is that you to invite me to all future workshops you have! :)

I would LOVE to attend a photography round table workshop! Definitely count me in! I think that it would be so informative and answer a lot of questions in my head regarding those topics!

Thank you again! I left your workshop feeling so inspired and more confident. I feel like attending your workshop was just what I needed and gave me the push I so desperately needed to really get serious about pursing my love of photography. You're awesome Noemi, It was so great to finally meet!

~Chris

Noemi, Thank you for the workshop! First of all, I learned so much at your workshop. It was a perfect fit for me. I feel like I was able to apply many new things the next day. I practiced on my kids and although they were not as cooperative as your models, I got some very nice shots. I was able to "embrace" the sunlight a bit more and try some new things. I love learning and growing. You are a natural teacher and fun to listen to and interact with. Sarah

I've heard back from a couple of the attendees and they've posted some pictures. Here's where you can check them out! www.rhondaharrisphotography.blogspot.com www.unexpected-joys.blogspot.com

I'm already planning the next Workshop! It's going to be JANUARY! And it's something new...Business FOCUSED Photography Workshop!

It's only going to be available for anyone who has attended a NoemiPhotography FOCUSED Workshop before. We are going to have a "roundtable" of sorts. We're going to sit around my dining room table and talk shop!

This is going to be your opportunity to ask every question you want to ask a PRO Photographer but can't or won't or have tried but no one will answer you.

I'm going to have one-on-one time and group discussions about:

blogging,

website design,

marketing,

social networking,

packages,

pricing,

Lightroom

and I am going to have you send questions ahead of the Workshop so I'm sure to answer them!

Doesn't this sound like so much fun?

More details to come.

Email me if you're interested and I'll contact you when the details have been firmed up.

I'm limiting the number of attendees to 6 to make sure I have a good chunk of time with everyone!

Everyone loves a giveaway!

I usually reserve a spot at all my workshops for someone who is gifted and passionate about photography but not in a good place to be able to afford to come. I've had tons of requests over the last few years asking if they can shadow me to learn technical and creative ...so, now you can! I have been teaching FOCUSED Photography Workshops for 3 years and this is the first time I'm doing an evening version.

Who should attend?

Aspiring and/or established photographers who want to freshen up their portfolios and learn new technical and creative photography techniques.

Cost Includes:

- Over 3 hours of hands-on training with Noemi Hedrick

- 2 groups of live styled models to add to your portfolio

- Signed model releases on file to ensure you have the rights to use the images you shoot

- Technical & Creative on the spot training

- Learn how to get consistently accurate exposures in changing lighting situations

- Interacting with models, natural posing techniques, capturing images with impact that will stand the test of time

- Q&A during and after shoot to discuss challenges

Bring paper and pen for on-the-go note-taking.

Minneapolis and St. Paul Wedding Reception Locations

A few weeks ago I blogged about the "Wedding Ceremony Locations" where I have shot in the last 8 years of doing wedding photography. I had every intention of following it with the list of the wedding receptions and never got to it until now! I wanted to make these list for a couple reasons...1. to help me remember 2. to help accurately answer the question "Have you ever shot there before?" 3. Give a list of ideas for brides still looking. The race for setting your wedding date and securing your ceremony and reception locations is on! There are so many beautiful locations in the Twin Cities but, they fill up so fast...especially for the fall dates. Who doesn't love the fall in Minnesota?

Usually brides set the wedding date, check to make sure the ceremony and reception are open for that date and then they call the wedding photographer. I love meeting with recently engaged couples! It's so fun to hear each story and start dreaming of the photography that best suits them. Anyways...I'm getting side tracked...here's the list:

Arboretum - Chanhassen/Chaska, MN

Crowne Plaza North - Brooklyn Center, MN

Midland Hills Country Club - Roseville, MN

Just highlighting and linking to the reception websites brings back so many memories for me. I love being a wedding photographer!

Once you decide on your wedding date, ceremony location, reception location and photographer...then the fun begins with your engagement shoot! Here's some ideas I found that I'd love to capture in the snow!

How to chose your Wedding Photographer?

This may sound weird coming from a wedding photographer but, I thought it may be helpful. Here's what I would do when you're researching potential Photographers. 1. Look at their previous work. Photographers usually post their portfolio on their websites and their recent work on their blogs. (If they are like me...the blog is a much better place to look because Photographers don't always update their websites.)

2. Talk to past clients or read reviews. Websites like WeddingWire makes this so easy. Type in your zipcode and read about 5 star rated Photographers. (The good, the bad and the ugly - the reviews are there) I've been apart of WeddingWire for the last two years and I like the service it provides potential brides. It pushes me to be the best for my clients knowing they will be passing the word on.

3. Meet with Photographers. It costs you nothing and loving their work is just as important as connecting to the person. They are going to be capturing the most important day of your life...I think it's great if you like them. Plus, meeting with them will give you and the photographer a chance to customize a package perfect for you.

I know picking your wedding photographer isn't easy. I'd like to make it as simple as I can. I love capturing weddings! My brides are happy...I'm happy. Please call to set up a consultation. (Currently booking 2011 Weddings) I would love to meet with you.

SIDE NOTE: Are you curious to know what a photographer does in a normal work week? I found this article on a wedding photographers blog and thought it was good. Plus, if you leave a comment then the wedding photographer is going to donate a can to a local food drive! LOVE THAT!

Best Ceremony Sites in the Twin Cities area...

For the last 8 years I've had the privilege of being a Wedding Photographer in the Twin Cities. Every so often I had a bride ask me if I've already shot at their Ceremony location or Reception site and I usually say, "Yes, no, maybe, I'm not sure!" because I can never remember where I've shot. But, after shooting weddings for so many years you'd think I'd have quite a list. I'm going to list all the places I've shot (some of them I've been more then once!) and I'm going to tell you my favorites! How cool is that? This list is for brides who are looking for a cool venue, brides interested in hiring me and want to know if I've shot at their location, for photographers looking for the next venue, and for me so I will finally have a complete list.

Sarah and Craig's Wedding Photography, Eden Prairie, MN

It's hard to believe I'm at the end of my wedding season. Sarah and Craig's wedding was a great way to end! A couple years back I had the pleasure of capturing Jessica's wedding (Sarah's older sister)  and there's something really amazing about being asked back! I was truly honored. Plus, I just love this family. I laughed all day long! We went into the wedding thinking it was going to pour rain all day and be miserable weather but, it was a perfect fall day and only rained during the ceremony! We were able to capture some gorgeous outdoor shots as a result. I love Minnesota in the fall...the light, the colors, the cool air!

My favorite shot of the wedding is the one with the bride standing alone on the peer...a perfect reflection in the water. Totally peaceful. Next would be the shots of the bride and groom being pelted with rice as they come out of the church. I was in the center of it all and felt rice falling off me for the rest of the evening...nice.

Enjoy this beautiful wedding!
